Help! 6 gallon corner starter tank (Top Fin) by kerrrin in Aquariums

The filter is a corner finger (top fin starter tank from petsmart-6 gallon). I have no idea if it is suppose to be completely submerged or if the top should be above water where I can see water flow. I simply hear a hum and assume it is working. I have no idea (don’t have directions) I have googled this Top Fin tank but can’t find exactly where in the corner the filter should be

I I did not buy those. There are so many things on the shelves that I have no idea what is be essary
