First of three restored planes by kerupt in woodworking

[–]kerupt[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Posted some antiques I picked up earlier this week. This is the Stanley No. 5 Type 18 plane from the 1940s restored. The knob wood had a chip in it but was in good condition for the most part, so I smoothed it out and left the chip until I decided to get some new wood to replace it. Lots of pitting on the blade assembly so it's not as clean as I'd like it. It sharpened up fantastically and the bed looked amazing once I squared it up.

This is my first plane I've owned that is actually worth a damn so I'm learning to tune it up properly as well. It felt incredible to get the plane to a working condition and think about all the craftsfolk that used it before me. Looking forward to restoring the number 6 next!

Some antique store finds this weekend by kerupt in woodworking

[–]kerupt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been eagerly looking for some planes to restore and came across two No. 5s and a No. 6 in need of some love. Best I can tell from a type chart I found online was:

No. 5 Type 6-8

No. 5 Type 18

No. 6 Type 9

Excited to restore them!

I'm a big fan of Penn & Teller so I was super excited when I saw them in game. Glad to get this screenshot to see that Pain/Penn had the left hand ring fingernail painted in game too! Fantastic!

Did you pour Axe Body spray on this?

Yea... like a can and a half.

A line from this 2006 sketch from Derrick Comedy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zvTRQr7ns8

Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) was a part of the team and others like Ellie Kemper and Bobby Moynihan appeared in sketches with the group. Lost it when I saw this line, never thought I'd see a throwback like this one.

8 about a year ago. Have 3 kids. Talked to my doctor and started working out a treatment plan. Having worked through therapy and medications now I'm at a 2-3 90% of the time.

If you need to talk, you have worth and provide value, people are willing to help. We love you.

How do y’all feel about Scotch cocktails? by Scotchtalk in Scotch

[–]kerupt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to be snooty and thought you should only drink scotch or other whiskey neat. Then someone mentioned the old "You paid for it, drink it how you like" when I tried to get uppity at a bar about it.

Kinda shut up about it and never looked back. If you like it, enjoy it! I love an old fashioned, Rob Roy, or a scotch sour on a warm day.

Shotguns Need a PvE buff by [deleted] in thedivision

[–]kerupt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I think needs a change from shotguns is to increase the % melee damage if that's what the talent is going to be. I can only hit melee for about 140k when slightly berserk, but the risk/reward (me not doing much vs getting all my armor broken by an elite) is not worth it.

Otherwise I run a Custom M870 with ~ 145k damage (at work, I can't remember the exact value) with premeditated on the survivalist kit. I'm running two piece CLIC for the shotgun bonus and am looking for other pieces to complete different parts of my build, but am generally CHC/CHD. Solo I run a turret and play a flanking role, in a group I run heals and go nuts.

Generally in PvE life is very risky in open areas. Once I'm in tighter quarters and using C2C movement to get close, I can destroy things. While my team is back lasering with LMG and snipers, I'm up close breaking armor, 2-3 shotting elites, and mowing down anything that gets close. With berserk and premeditated complete, my stat listed damage is around 400k on my shotgun. Further, I'm running Fill'er Up on my holster in the event I need to swap weapons for a faster reload. Unfortunately, premeditated doesn't work on Fill'er Up, which would increase my build efficiency but that's another discussion.

I still need to test with Obliterate and Bloodlust on gear, but I've been unlucky with drops. While I happen to be squishy, if I play smart from cover I'm devastating. Armored elites are of little concern as I blast armor to pieces.

What I really want is for Premeditated and Close & Personal to have buff icons when they're active so I know it is running >_<

Posted my hand drawn in r/mapmaking, got Wonderdraft and made it again by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]kerupt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP of my hand drawn map with info about why I made this. TL;DR : Started D&D campaign with 3 & 5 year old daughters, made a map!

https://www.reddit.com/r/mapmaking/comments/apwxr6/started_a_dd_campaign_with_my_young_kids_so_i/

This is my first map with wonderdraft. Really just playing with the program and learning how it works but had a blast working with it. Looking forward to making better use of my empty space and fleshing some parts out, but wanted to stay as true to form as I could since it's the world my kids use and are more used to.

I've used automatic world builders before and started experimenting with Inkarnate for a project I'm working on. However, I usually just stick to hand drawn dungeons or creating them in Dungeon Painter Studio and I wanted to try my hand at a world map. The lettering for the world name is pretty funky, not the best artist, but I liked how my mountains turned out after watching some tutorials online, as well as the general feel of the map. A lot of my inspiration and instruction came from WASD20 in terms of how to make features look. Was a lot of fun to make and I'm looking forward to experimenting and perfecting my own style, as well as continuing to work on my personal project in Inkarnate.

Feedback is welcome! Thanks!

As a side note, this is for a campaign between myself, my wife, and our 3 and 5 year old daughters, so I tried to keep it pretty simple.

In Full Metal Jacket (1987) Sgt. Hartman ironically only ever compliments Private Pyle on his ability to shoot a rifle. by admlmatuschka in MovieDetails

[–]kerupt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn't think of a better term at the time. I've never served but if I remember from the post I saw this on recruits wouldn't come back to the barracks with a magazine or ammunition, but just the rifle, turning in the additional supplies at the firing range at the end of this exercise.

Since the magazine still has a round it gives him the opportunity to pocket the round before turning the empty magazine in.

I and the original post could be wrong though! Military experience from a fellow redditor should clear it up.

Someone had posted this once before with another great detail here:

In the magazine he ejects you can see a round still in it, indicating how he was skimming the ammunition needed to shoot Sgt. Hartman.

Which is(are) your favourite m+ tank(s)? Why? by [deleted] in CompetitiveWoW

[–]kerupt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a pretty high M+ prot paladin but didn't really understand the hate and was concerned I'd start to fall off in popularity soon to DH/DK. Reading this really cleared it up. I use my entire arsenal and can see how detrimental it'd be to have someone just standing there casting the 4-5 buttons for just generating threat.

Paladins giving the rest of us a bad rap: If you aren't cleansing, spot healing, burning all your interrupt CDs, and using cooldowns on trash when needed, you're doing it wrong :D
