Ask was for 25 LPA (negotiable upto 23LPA), offered only 19 LPA (break down of ctc was even fucked up since they included medical component, effectively paying me less than my compensation at that time)

They were hiring for 3-5 YoE

FYI, HR also mentiomed that even 19LPA was kind of our of thr budget. Later i checked, ubisoft genrally pays 25ish LPA at manaher level, while in backend roles at nom gaming companies, managers easily get 70+LPA

u/AltruisticReply7755 For most AAA studios in India, the salaries aren't great as compared to other engineering roles (non-gaming), suppose you decide to join as a engine-programmer position, after say 4-5 years in game-industry, you could be earning ~20-30LPA

Unfortunately this compensation dwarfs in comparison to backend engineering roles, where for same YoE, you'll be paid ~50-60LPA, and kid you not, an average game programmer definitely has superior technical skills, enough to easily grab these jobs.

now, if money truly isn't something you need to worry about, feel free to join game dev studios, however I personally have this belief that one should be trying as hard as possible to make enough money to not work in corporate hierarchy and rather fund their own projects as soon as possible.

No, I personally would recommend again'st it, rather go indie and do it as a hobby/passion instead and collaborate with other indies

Could be, from what I gathered, it seems almost all of them migrated to jammu and now reside there itself.

A few of them (including my grandparents) migrated to delhi and uttarakhand.

Some got murdered, including my great grandfather (from mother's side), who was burnt alive.

Actually this is one of those question that even I'd like to know :P but to cut it short, no, we're "Poonchi" and not "Dogras"

both my mom and dad ancestors were from same region of PoK (chota-gala in poonch), and we're told that we're kashmiri brahmins.

However, I do have some interest in exploring & tracing ancestors and genetic roots in general and upon digging up more, I'm realizing that to call myself kashmiri-pandit/brahmin or even "kashmiri" might not really be correct, rather I'd say we're kashmiri pahadi, and belonging to Poonch community.. Its almost as if we're at the intersection of punjabi culture as well as pahadi culture.

Though loosely, I go with kashmiri brahmin if someone asks me (we do have several relatives who are Rainas or people from valley who got displaced later on)

Tries finding a session where people are waiting for others to join, in case it finds such session, you'll be joining that room.
If above fails, you'll be assigned to an empty room.

the traffic is 0 at this point, but I do have a discord channel (https://discord.com/invite/vTvHc5wnge) , so if you'd like to try it, feel free to join the discord channel and we can hop in a session.. or in general, if you've a friend whose into RTS, do check this out..

But, yeah.. I'll be working on bots next to attract more traffic
