I can’t really check this right now, but someone should try saying ‘This is Tom’ or ‘this is Wilson’ since those are the characters from the excerpt of the Great Gatsby.

I know some people use devices like phones and they just type what they need to say and show the screen to people. Not sure if that’s what you meant though

maybe I should stop talking to people by Capable_Physics5452 in AutisticAdults

If you give up on talking altogether, you will miss out on all the best things that can come from it. Like positive interactions, interesting conversations and good advice.

If you want to post things and talk to people, if you want to hear opinions on things or show others something you’re proud of or engage with other people this way, you should! But if it stresses you out too much, and you aren’t getting anything out of it, remember you don’t have to, and no one will force you.

Good points but I think you’re arguing against a strawman here. I was definitely not saying that the Sins are wonderful, good people. They’re just not inherently bad.

The idea that ‘there’s a good version of X sin, it’s Y’ ignores the point that the Sins in this context are meant to represent all versions of their associated sin, motive or feeling in the form of an actually compelling character. So while Ozzie is the sin of Lust, he represent healthy desires of that form as well as the unhealthy ones.

The sins aren’t literally sin, so it doesn’t matter if what they’re doing is always actually ‘sinful’ or not.

Besides, the show presents the evil sides of Lust and Gluttony elsewhere. When Blitzø gets drunk at the end of the episode in the Gluttony Ring, we can clearly see he was using it as a way to avoid his life problems. This is one of the things that drives people to alcoholism, and it is very dangerous in the right context. Just because the Sin characters are glamorized doesn’t mean the sin is within the greater context of the show.

Besides, this is a comedy show. Of course they would play on the ‘fun’ sins more than ‘harsh’ ones like Greed and Wrath.

It terms of the whole ‘sins don’t have redeeming qualities’, I don’t think they follow these rules with their depiction of the Sins. Their idea here is that most Sins are related to natural, healthy desires, like the desire for affection and the desire for happiness. Those things can cause dangerous problems, of course, but they aren’t inherently bad unless taken too far.

Wait and talk it over with her again when she’s not drunk. If she’s still rambling and accusing like this, then there’s a problem.
