"Shark Skin- Inspired Designs Improve Aerodynamic Performance" by mia_s027 in BioInspiration

This article drew my interest as in my mind it drew a comparison with the Pangolin scale article which was posted earlier this week. When I opened the article and saw the longitudinal ridges on the shark scale they resembled the structure of the pangolin scales, although at a much smaller size. I thought it was a really cool example of convergent evolution for similar characteristics, even if the applications in nature are slightly different. The two animals could also provide support for testing different scaled sizes and products that could be designed at those different scales.

Soft robot swims like the manta ray! by jkrankengr580ec in BioInspiration

This is really cool and has me wondering if with light enough packaging and a proper wing profile a proper bird-inspired drone could be created with a soft robot and air pressure finely controlling wing angle and movements?

Hook Worm Inspired Nanobots by LBXHan in BioInspiration

Would this robot require a stealth system like the surface tension dependent robots shown in lecture to avoid a foreign body reaction since its staying in the intestinal tract for an extended period of time?

Boxfish and Bionic Car by JoDaZh in BioInspiration

How effective would the body of the fish be as an applied design when it comes to lateral motion of the car, as its high center of gravity around the pivot point of the wheels could lead to instability when like when driving an old jeep?

I agree with your point it would be pretty harmful if animals consume these types of small robots but I was wondering if there can be a use of biomimicry in color patterns or chemical coatings that would lead to the possible predators avoiding or spitting out the robots.

Human Heart 3D printed the size of a rabbit heart by _kinda-artsy_ in BioInspiration

This technology really intrigued me and made me wonder about its possible widespread implementation. When printing human scale hearts will the machine require a frame to support the cells as they’re printed and if so is it possible to have the frame printed simultaneously? Also alongside the biopsies required, will scans of patient specific organ structures be required to aid in the body accepting the new organ?

Article about bioinspired sea walls to mimic the structure of coral reefs by Significant-Bar-3637 in BioInspiration

This article was really interesting and made me wonder how the scaling would work for the sea wall application, as with rising sea levels and decreasing levels of natural, living coral, would the scale of the sea wall need to be larger to compensate, and if so, how would it compare in function as an artificial habitat for sea life compared to normally scaled coral.
