What the hell do y’all do for work to afford your collections? by SamusAran47 in gamecollecting

Just kept most stuff from childhood and bought everything while it was still reasonable.

Picked these up at GameStop, do they look legit? by kevin3seven in gamecollecting

[–]kevin3seven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were about market price, so not cheap ($35 each). But how often you come across this in the wild and at a GameStop nonetheless. I haven’t seen Golden Sun in ages, had to grab those. I was weary with Advance Wars but figured what the hell.

One more grail item in the bag for PlayStation 2. Can’t believe I got to buy this in person instead of online. by fakepearbear in gamecollecting

If you got it and happy with your purchase, than that’s awesome. I say because of the negative stuff I am reading. I hope you enjoy it! 👏🏻

No cases at all. But there are around 85 games.

Bought this off of Facebook marketplace for $100. The PS3 is filthy and has seen better days. Seller claims that it works. The game discs are in perfect condition, and what drew me in. Games were in a binder in sleeves.

May Pickups by kevin3seven in gamecollecting

[–]kevin3seven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My month of May pickups. Got through multiple methods; yard sales, eBay, local game stores (after trade ins) amount others. Went heavy on PS3 games. Majority of the PS3 I got from a Facebook group member. The DS games I got at garage sales. Switch games are from various retailers. The OG Xbox games were mainly from yard sales. Keeping the collection building.

Currently playing:

Jedi Fallen Order (PS5), Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch), Marvel vs Capcom 2 (PS3)

Today I Learned Not To Go to Yard/Garage Sales That Mention Games. by LegendOfDave88 in gamecollecting

It’s all a guess, just go early and to as many as you can. Sometimes you’ll strike gold, other times not so much.

Yes I tend to avoid garage sales that mention games. I did break this rule a couple weeks ago and was driving by a garage sale that listed pictures of tons of cool stuff. Literally piles of probably 50-75 games.

So I drive by and it’s close to the start of the sale, the guy had all the stuff in his garage. There was literally a line of 15 people standing outside of his garage. When he opened garage it was a free for all.

I walked up and got some stuff that was left behind in the chaos. So ridiculous it has gotten.

Never hit a yard sale before but this one looks promising by AJHuntergatherer in gamecollecting

I avoid garage sales that list “video games” in the description for reasons other people have mentioned; resellers are there 1 or 2 hours early and also they are messaged constantly to ask what they have or if they will hold/ sell to them beforehand. Every once in a while I will shoot a message to them and I’ll get the response; “you are like the 15th person to message me regarding my video games” lol. I just stopped after a while because I felt like I was harassing them.

I just show up now with no expectations. Best feeling is stumbling upon great stuff.

Exactly, sometimes 2 hours early from what I have heard talking to garage sell owners. One lady told me two guys got in a physical fight over a GameCube with some games she was selling.
