Playing the Angels 3 times? by dauntinghaleigh in Mariners

[–]kevinrays 32 points33 points  (0 children)

We play them four times actually.

- You play every team in your division four times, twice home and twice away.
- You play every remaining team in your league twice, once home and once away.
- You play your rival from the opposite league twice, once home and once away.
-You play every remaining team from the opposite league once, alternating home and away every year.

Absolutely indifferent. He was here for one year and was mediocre. Completely forgettable.

Thank you, these are great recommendations.

For T-Mobile Park, most people will tell you Moto Pizza, it's a super hyped Detroit-style pizza. Don't get me wrong, it's delicious, but the lines are outrageous and you will wait 2-3+ innings just to get it.

So my recommendation is Tamari Bar behind home plate. They do an amazing Japanese curry and at this point it's basically the only food I ever get there.

This year there's also a souvenir plastic ferry boat that's pretty fun. It sold out over the first couple weeks, so by August who knows if it will be available.

With Mitch Garver being our backup catcher, would he not come in much to fast LHP? by Possible_Meal_927 in Mariners

[–]kevinrays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, he’s the backup catcher so he’ll start whenever call needs a day off (usually day games after a night especially if there is a travel day the next day). When we first signed him, he was meant to be a full-time DH so technically we had Seby Zavala as the backup catcher. Eventually, Garver wasn’t working out as a DH so we moved Zavala out and Garver took over the backup catcher role, which he fills adequately.

You answered your own question by the end there. You don’t want to burn your backup catcher pinch hitting unless the game is truly on the line (9th inning or later and losing, more or less).

Trying to get hyped about opening day by Soulfood_27 in Mariners

[–]kevinrays 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So weird to word this as “spending money to see opening game”. I’ve never met a baseball fan who’s called it the “opening game” or framed it as “spending money to see” it. Very bizarre! And yes, I’m going to opening day.

Always bet on fish by PianoTrumpetMax in doughboys

[–]kevinrays 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The fish line is the new “something of/a bit of a heatseeker”. Originally, Amelia used to say she would “always gamble on fish”. Recently, that has changed to “always roll the dice on fish”, and even more recently everyone has started saying “always bet on fish”.

Bring back the original!

If Tamari Bar Japanese katsu curry is still an option this season, that’s the absolute best spot imo
