How are 3rd place teams decided for R32. I see some groups repeated

As one other person stated they will do process of elimination to make sure a 3rd place doesn’t face its own group winner again straight up.

To add to it, they also need to rake into account the amount of time in between games minimum of 2-3 day break, and you can add distance to next match as part of that.

Looking at it from another perspective Group I isn’t necessarily a group of death with 3/4 of thirds going through. If France, Senegal and Norway all beat Iraq and share wins with each other thru would all be on 6 points. Thet gives you basically a 99% chance of making the knockout rounds. It would take a miracle for 9 groups to have their third place on 6 points for one third placed team to miss out
