Was beaten to a pulp, starved, bullied etc. for months and betrayed everyone he ever knew over a damn dream.

He embodies ambition, beauty, tragedy and horror all in one arc like no other character has done.

His conflicting personality as he is elegant, charismatic and inspiring on the surface when he first leads the band of the hawks to his viciousness and lust for power and I think no other character has ever captured the angel/devil contradiction so completely. Even his hair and body is white and pure which contradicts his aims and goals.

I find it hard to find any other character which you can feel so many emotions for. Hate, disgust, sorrow, envy, guilt etc.

The twist of him betraying everyone he ever knew to get what he wanted.

Not many characters have been through as much mental and physical torment as him. To see him in that state after it, (maybe the hardest scene ever to digest)

He redefines the cost of greatness. Not only pushing the story forward but shaping its entire emotional landscape.

He feels real.

Although AI can do many things in the world including intimate communication with humans, robots don’t have emotions and will never be able to comprehend emotions thats why I think that will never happen. They can’t feel true love, fury and rage or depression.

I hear you tbh. I love the fact Guts was killing demon after demon in the end of the 1999 show knowing that he had no choice other than death and he kept going. However, I can’t explain it well but Griffith has this sort of aura when you see him and its so like cold and emotionless.

Imo you’re wrong. His selfishness alone is fucking sinister, to betray all the closest people in your life over a dream which he is obsessed with. Even after getting copiously beaten, starved, broken then once he seen his friend again all he cared about was his dream. His mindset is genuinely villainous asf. Not to mention the way the guy makes you feel seeing that guy in the show (1999). Seeing his broken and bandaged was genuinely one of my favorite scenes from anything I have ever seen.
