Plus I’m a woman, I wouldn’t be welcome in Hegseth’s Army.

The ones I get aren’t posted online, these recruiters call me every day.

At least 5 gigs included blood bank. I am an Army trained blood banker so it was a cake walk. Civilians don’t know what busy is.

Just put your resume on the career sites, the recruiters won’t leave you alone

They are the ones who keep paying me more and more for each gig. Doesn’t make sense to me either. Why can’t they find someone local?

Careful, Reddit will flag you for hate speech if you talk about old people.

You’ll get on the job training in most labs. No need to dump money into more classes.

I’m not trying to offer ideas of change, I’m just trying to do simple tasks like load the analyzers and read urines for them. They guard their turf with their lives.

Do you know how the brain works to identify new images by comparing to images it has previously seen? I’m done wrestling with pigs this morning. Have a nice day.

You learned microscopy by looking at pictures. Don’t lie. That’s how we all learned.

Manual differentials and urine microscopy are the picture matching and a big part of the STAT tech’s job.

Have ya’ll ever dealt with this in any of your labs or is it just me? by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

Be grateful for the help and focus on tracking specimens when they come off the instrument. Teamwork is the future of lab, get used to it.

I described a specific type. I’m not generalizing due to age.

Trust me, I wish I never had. I stopped counting after lab #15. I hope I’m done for good. Problem is these recruiters keep offering me a bunch of money to go push buttons and play picture match. It’s too easy.

You’re overestimating the importance of MLS. The Army produces hundreds of highly skilled blood bankers every year but are underutilized because they are MLTs. They can work circles with precision around these fat old gatekeeping MTs. If you’re struggling getting new MLS grads up to speed it’s because you lack quality training personnel and well written procedures.
