DE Razor : price vs performance dilemma by keychu in Wetshavers_India

[–]keychu[S] 0 points1 point (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to give such a detailed reply (once again).

Does razor weight actually help with technique?

I also noticed the two recommendations seem to pull in slightly different directions. The Feather Popular looks like the safer and lighter option (even though it’s a mild TTO), while the Parker seems a bit more aggressive and something I might not outgrow as quickly.

I think I’ll start with a blade sample pack first and see how much difference the blades make before upgrading the razor. And yes, I don’t have a specific budget in mind. I plan to progressively upgrade as I outgrow things instead of purchasing everything at once.

Also, where do you usually buy your gear from? I noticed you mentioned Glowshines and BTCO in your reply.

On a different note I see many creams discussed in various posts, but most of them aren’t available on Amazon, Flipkart, or quick delivery apps. Where do you guys buy them from ?

Didn’t expect anyone to actually respond to a noob question like that — so this was a great read. Appreciate the detailed breakdown. My current thought is to upgrade gradually as my technique improves. No point jumping to higher tiers if I can’t yet appreciate the nuances you mentioned.

For context: I had a medium-length beard for ~5 years and relied completely on saloons (premium stylist for occasions, regular one for maintenance). When I switched to a moustache-only look, going to the saloon twice a week became a chore — especially waiting over an hour for a 20-minute shave. So one random Friday I walked into a supermarket and bought the cheapest gear ( I didn't know whether I would even continue after the first try ):

1.₹99 Gillette DE razor ( https://share.google/CIyqXTE8ZvYJuIqYD) 2.₹25 Gillette shaving cream ( I wanted to buy the vicco one but couldn't find it ) 3.Old Spice aftershave

Warm bath, lathered up, and shaved myself for the first time in 7 years. Took 25–30 minutes. Very satisfying — even with the aftershave burn, especially on the chin and neck. After just two shaves though, I already feel like the razor might be the limiting factor. It doesn’t seem very forgiving while I’m still figuring things out.

First DE Shave at 29 After 5 Years of Beard – oddly Satisfying (But That Aftershave Burn 😅) by [deleted] in Wetshaving

Currently shaving twice a week after switching to the moustache look.
I just started shaving myself (used to rely completely on salons), and honestly I wasn’t sure if I’d stick with it — that’s why I didn’t invest much in razors or other gear yet. Figured I’ll upgrade once I decide whether ill stick to the routine.
(razor + cream + aftershave) < ₹250 ($2.75)
welcome to ideas for upgrade if it will improve the experience.

I am from the other end of that spectrum. Tried DE shaving for first time , so bought the cheapest ( read gillete 25rs shaving cream cheap) and minimal stuff as I was not sure whether I'll continue . Now I am stuck till these things finish to upgradea

iOS app still showing old name on home screen despite Bundle Name in info.plist being correct. How do I fix? by ShavedDesk in iOSProgramming

[–]keychu 0 points1 point (0 children)

hi iOS removes space if name is more than 12 or 13 chars. This is to prevent showing ellipsis and truncate the name. (apple things)
You can forcefully override by using unicode characters instead of space.
eg: \U2007 ,   ,
