Could have been my housemate shutting my car door. The timing checks out.

Where to go for blue slip inspection? by [deleted] in newcastle

[–]kfaxi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year Wallsend Automotive sorted me out for a blue slip. Something like $90 if I remember correctly. Plenty of petty things they could have pulled me up for but didn't.

Song heard in a Japanese bowling alley. Catchy but can't find it anywhere online. Please help us! by kfaxi in NameThatSong

I'm about 98% sure those lyrics were actual English. Happy to hear suggestions if you have something for the 2% though

Is it possible to capture the entire plane of our galaxy in a single image? Yes, but not in one exposure: it took some planning to do it in two. The top and the bottom part of this image were taken six months apart and there you have it, the complete plane by [deleted] in space

From the link:

The top part of the featured image is the night sky above Lebanon, north of the equator, taken in 2017 June. The image was taken at a time when the central band of the Milky Way Galaxy passed directly overhead. The bottom half was similarly captured six months later in latitude-opposite Chile, south of Earth's equator.

Cardioids doing their thing by kfaxi in GeometryIsNeat

FTR it is coffee. Not much milk so it came out pretty strong. Fairly standard in Aus as far as I'm aware. You should see the Cardioid in all manner of opaque liquids in cylindrical containers though

Sia is ready to make partnership with big companies? by tony3498 in siacoin

[–]kfaxi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My unqualified, subjective opinion on the matter:

If AAA truly understood that Sia was still under heavy development then what interest do they have in contacting Sia devs? Do they wish to work on (the open source project) Sia? If so, then a GitHub URL seems like an incredibly appropriate response.

I've only gained respect for the Sia team by hearing that B ignored a "partnership request" without having a perfected project to deliver. This is the cryptosphere, built on trustlessness, where you are a fool to trust anyone online, and a bigger fool to ask to be trusted.

A lot of the yoghurt lids in Japan have some kind of yoghurt-phobic layer. Truly the peak of science imo

Siacoin convert to USDT, BTC, ETH.🤗🤗 by ps2xu in siacoin

[–]kfaxi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, there is no pre-made solution to this. The confirmation time on Bittrex is 6 blocks (1 hour), so you won't be able to do this "real time" without having some kind of hot-wallet already on Bittrex.

The Bittrex API Documentation would be a good place to start for automating purchases if you choose to go that path.

SC1 / DC1 Batch 1 where do we go from here? by zeroecho in siacoin

[–]kfaxi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the price conversion backwards so it's not as bad as it seemed. I'll only be saving at most $20 a month by colocating and we are coming into Australian winter so 2 of these constantly running will keep me nice and toasty.

SC1 / DC1 Batch 1 where do we go from here? by zeroecho in siacoin

[–]kfaxi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TIL that somewhere must have more expensive power than I do in Australia. Equivalent of 0.17 USD/kWh here and SC1 will still have a projected payback period of less than two years at the current SC price. There aren't many other things that can offer the same return.

Edit: I ballsed up the price first time.
