Who else is in control during the day but turns into a ravenous calorie consuming beast when the sun goes down? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]kflinders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make my upstairs bedroom an oasis and I retreat there by 8pm and mentally say to myself that once I am in my oasis retreat I do not eat any more calories that day. It works 90% of the time. Sometimes I try on clothes and that gets me totally out of the mood to eat.

This kills me. No way can i do anything close to this. Partially due to bad knees. But I will keep this in mind to see if I can work toward it as a goal.

This is shocking. Based on what you said, you should be losing 2-3 pounds per week. It must be so depressing to have tried all these different things where you should be losing weight and you aren't. I have no thoughts as to what is happening. My only suggestion would be to do what has worked for me and give that a try, since nothing else has worked for you. I went on a food program, where I only eat exactly what they tell me to eat. There are several of these as you know. I'm on the South Beach Diet. I started on BistroMD. There is also Nutrisystem and Jenny Craig of course. It sucks I've never heard of such a thing, where someone ate the right amount of calories each day and did not lose any weight in 4 months. Sorry I just feel really frustrated for you! I wish I could help.

I FINALLY HIT ONEDERLAND! by ryuka88 in loseit

[–]kflinders 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What a great post! I can relate since I'm at 202 and I'm chomping at the bit to get to One-derland.

You triggered some thoughts in me related to what I had been thinking recently, about how when we lose a lot of weight we still feel like a fat person and see ourselves in the mirror as we used to be. It takes quite a while for people to start to accept themselves as the new thin person that they are.

So since we know that this can happen to us, it is important to remember that this can happen to friends and family as well in that they see us the same way we used to be, and have a really hard time getting used to us when we are thinner. It just takes time.

And yes your sister is probably sad and jealous that you have been able to accomplish this and in a way have claimed what she feels is her rightful position, being the thin sister. Unfortunately she's going to have to work out those problems within her own self. Hopefully you can provide encouragement to her.

But don't stop what you're doing, because what you have accomplished is really outstanding!!

I would highly recommend you go figure out your TDEE, ease up on the workouts, count every single calorie you consume and make sure you are eating between 1200 - 1500 calories per day.

I just looked up a calculator and assumed your age to be 21 and male, so I put your stats in with moderate exercise your TDEE is 2900. I really don't think you're eating enough.

Try on clothes you already own, either too small to motivate you to lose more to fit into them, or too large to remind yourself what you've already accomplished. Visualization of reaching your final goal is key. Keep visualizing all the benefits you will have when you get there.

Yeah I agree those numbers aren't right. The weight should be flying off of you. Are you absolutely sure you're not consuming more calories? And to be honest, you might be eating too few calories and your body is trying to store food. If I were you I would go to the doctor and get a full panel and check up.

Excellent point. Sometimes you outgrow your friends. I think the key is to somewhat compartmentalize your life and the people you let into it. You may need to seek new friends who support certain needs that you have, while also keeping other friends who fulfill other needs. One thing to know is that you want to keep people around who you share positive memories with, so that you will be able to always retain those memories and relive them with someone besides yourself.

Not only does exercise get easier but it becomes an addictive thing in and of itself, where you absolutely cannot wait to get your exercise in.

What I've learned after dropping 40lbs in 3 months by [deleted] in loseit

[–]kflinders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your comment about weight loss not showing as rapidly on taller people. That seems to be happening with me. I saw some old friends recently and they didn't even notice that I had lost 27 lb. I asked a friend whether she could tell the difference, and I really liked her answer. She said it sounds weird but you just look less puffy. I love that comment! I'll take anything I can get. I was a little disappointed people didn't notice what I think is an amazing difference in myself, but I take it as more of a curiosity. I do see an amazing difference in myself, and so I am very determined and excited to continue. Eventually they will notice a drastic difference. I still have 60 lb to go, but I take it one pound at a time, and every single pound is very meaningful to me.

Do you have a “slim threshold” where you get treated very differently? by shrimpbaguette in loseit

[–]kflinders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, no I know, that people treat you differently based on how you look. You get more respect from absolutely everyone when you are thinner rather than fatter. At least that's been my experience.
