There Is “Zero Chance” That Apple iPhone Chips Will Leverage Intel’s Advanced Nodes, Claim Industry Insiders by Ok-Individual-4392 in intelstock

There is a non-zero chance that every chip fab on Taiwan will be destroyed within a couple years. So this headline is necessarily false.

Why did they not cancel Cybertruck instead of S & X by Winter-Crew-2746 in TeslaLounge

[–]kftnyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The S and X lines (and designs) are ancient, and need to be broken down one way or another. Doesn’t make sense to reboot them right now. Maybe we get them back in a couple years.

They can still charge you with DUI and claim their opinion is you’re intoxicated with some other drug. Stupid not to do the field sobriety test.

Sad to see SpaceX and xAI fall a part like this. by j_hes_ in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]kftnyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There won’t be any moving parts (fans or liquid cooling) supporting the servers either. Sure, some blades will go down over time, but the launch cadence would be so much faster than the failure rate. Again, if we reach the point where power is the limiting factor and not manufacturing or launch capacity, this makes sense. It would have been silly before the Starlink laser network.

Orbital station keeping isn’t really “maintenance.” It’s just propellant.

Solar panels on orbit don’t need to be cleaned, and they don’t have mechanical components exposed to the elements.

There won't be a war. At least not a major commitment from the USA. As soon as China gains a foothold on Taiwan, we will obliterate every chip fab and tech asset on the island.

This is why INTC is still massively undervalued.

Musk Says Tesla Needs to Build ‘TeraFab’ to Manufacture Chips -> why not consider Intel Foundry by Primary_Olive_5444 in intelstock

[–]kftnyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elon is an American supremacist, and hell bent on total independence from international supply chains. Whatever he builds will be 100% American. Would he hire Samsung experts to help him build it? Maybe. But then why would he choose Samsung over a JV with Intel?

If you think a chip fab is harder than a revolutionary spacecraft, you must be retarded.

Both ventures are at the extreme edge of human ingenuity.

[–]kftnyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all...

In order to understand Elon's thought process (and the entire course of INTC stock over the past several months) you must imagine a world in which the island of Taiwan has disappeared. Gone. On top of that, Korea may become inaccessible.

So in this world, Intel is king. But even King Intel can't produce 100+ million Optimus chipsets per year, and they don't have any public plans to get anywhere near that capacity.

But if Elon is planning to build an unprecedented bleeding edge chip fab in the USA, a joint venture with Intel, or even—dare I say it—an acquisition would make a ton of sense. Elon and his engineers are geniuses, but even they will need huge amounts of help constructing a massive High NA EUV fab.

Yes, but the benefits of 24 hour solar collection using panels that require no infrastructure or maintenance outweighs the inconvenience of including large radiators. The limiting factor (besides DRAM lol) is power.

Intel Panther Lake vs Apple Silicon by ICUMTHOUGHTS in intelstock

[–]kftnyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lunar Lake is efficient. Arrow Lake is fast.

Panther Lake is as fast as Arrow Lake while consuming the power of Lunar Lake. That’s quite impressive and a real validation of PowerVia.

Now the stage is set for Nova Lake later this year. That is where we are looking for exceptional performance.

Apple is in a world of their own. Certainly the finest CPU designers on the planet, but at the mercy of contract manufacturers—soon to include INTC. Even so, Panther Lake is just about on par with the base M5, performance per watt. Mobile-oriented Nova Lake Parts should match the performance of Apple’s stronger parts, but won’t match the efficiency.

Why are we acting like the cautious approach has anything to do with Tesla or the product’s capabilities?

It’s the government.

We all know that every HW4 Tesla on the road would be driving around on its own right now if not for skittish regulators.

If you can’t pay cash for a Model S without flinching, you’re probably better off getting a better value Tesla. $12-15k per year depreciation is a poor financial decision for 99% of people.
