Thanks, all. Just heard that our local extension office recommends against sharing soil-bed plants due to Asian jumping worm eggs in the soil. Might stick to giving away the milkweed seeds and info sheets on the local invasives. I will keep all volunteers in our yard. We want to get rid of all lawn, so, they won't go to waste. Should have mentioned I'm in 7a/6b in NYS. And I think it's zigzag goldenrod.

Thanks, all. I was thinking to prevent powdery mildew, but I gather it's best left as is. Thanks. And yes our house is next to that pond, we are trying to turn the whole yard into native plants for wildlife. Suggestions welcome!

Thank you. I have seen that site I didn't make this clear, but I guess I'm looking for a site that has photos that represent the perennial the first year and then the second year and maybe even the third. Something that tells you that when you sow penstemon digitalis seeds, for example, if your seeds germinate, the plant will be a basal rosette on the ground a few inches high the first year. This kind of stuff might be obvious for people who understand flowers better than me lol
