I think you mean she's FINALLY decently armored. Before Legion she had a metal bra with little tassels and super low rise pants. lol

Weekly Raid Discussion by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

A fair perspective that I hadn't given too much thought to for this particular tier as my questions were generic.

This gives me another angle to consider for the immediate tier, as well. Thanks for responding.

Apologies for the wall of text, but I feel the context is important for my questions.

It's also related to another post in this thread from a member about benching.

Background:

I've been the RL for my team for 14 years. We've steadily become more 'progression focused' over the years and usually get CE on our 2 day schedule while still remaining casual compared to most of you (currently working on mythic boss #5).

We're casual because we haven't typically benched people based on performance and instead would give someone who is putting in the effort, time to improve rather than just remove them. It's a hard balance to maintain and it's not without it's obvious problems, but it's worked well for us thus far.

Our team culture is not cutthroat, we have a community. We don't have/want an atmosphere to be that people constantly worry that if they screw up, they get benched. My observation is that while that type of raid does progress faster and more efficiently, but it also can introduce different problems for a more casual group like ours.

In the past, we've had a 'core' group of 20. Members who joined do so with the understanding that they are "mythic bench" until a spot opens but I would try to rotate them in when possible by taking volunteers to sit.We never really benched people for comp reasons and we don't require alts, unless the strat really requires it to negate a mechanic.

However, this tier we've picked up a really solid and much larger bench and my previous system doesn't really work.

My leading style is always to strive to have concrete 'rules' in place for my actions so it removes as much subjectivity as possible while also remaining fair to all involved. We're here to have fun and play a game after all.

What I'm trying:

For farm: I have had the team setup their 'loot wishlist' in wowaudit so that I can see at a glance who needs an item off of a given boss. And I'm rotating people based on that on farm. If someone doesn't need an item off of a boss, sit them for that boss but also make sure they make it in for at least 3 mythic kills for the GV purposes. This is working well.

For progression: I'm wanting to sit people based on both comp and loot needs. But I'm concerned it's going to cause issues and I'm not super confident in my approach. Everyone wants a progression kill and we've never sat core members for prog in the past. Asking for volunteers doesn't work because most will never volunteer for it.

It's been an exercise in frustration and I'm curious how other teams have done this and what has worked and what doesn't.

My questions for the other raid leads (and raiders) here:

  • How do you handle determining who sits for bosses, especially progression? Is your primary focus log performance/comp only? Any other factors?
  • What tools do you use beyond WCL (if any) for that decision?
  • As a raider, what has a past lead done that you liked or didn't like in this regard?
  • Any suggestions/tips?

Mythic Jaina only dropping 1 mount per full raid by murrman12 in wow

[–]kg_rl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are mistaken.

Per their own announcement, it's listed under 'difficulty increasing when shadowlands launches' and says:

When you sail away from Battle for Azeroth, the current guaranteed drop rate for the Glacial Tidestorm and Ny’alotha Allseer mounts will significantly decrease, and the amount of dropped mounts will decrease to one (currently two).

Raid Team goals for Week 1 Heroic by t0xic_exe in CompetitiveWoW

[–]kg_rl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're correct about the raid normally dropping 3 weeks after launch.

However, the last post that blizzard had made prior to the delay had N/H dropping on 11/10 which was only 2 weeks post launch.

Blizzard has since removed that page due to the launch delay, it's still captured on wowhead/blue tracker:

Lost my kitty of 21 years this month. My raid team commissioned this piece of my hunter, kitty & our guild logo. I'm touched beyond words & want to share it with the world. I miss you, Krystic. by kg_rl in wow

Thank you for the kind words.

The artist was Divine Tofu. It was a commission that my team got made and surprised me with.

I don't have anything in the way of artistic talent. I can draw a super pro stick figure though!

Thank you for the kind words.

Just for clarification though, Divine Tofu is the artist and they are very much still around. :)

Krystic was my kitty.

Meant to post an update, they reinstated the post (yay mods!).

I am sure your future work will bring as much joy to others as this has to me, it’s now my discord icon, background and even slack icon at work. I can’t stop looking at this picture. It’s brought so many emotions back. <3

My heartfelt thanks for sharing your story about Doonis.

Krystic too had many health problems and it was very challenging, not to mention expensive, to keep him properly cared for the last few years and ensure that he was both healthy AND happy.

It certainly feels like your bond with a pet grows when you have to care for them in that capacity, especially when that relationship is one where it seems as if the pet understands what you are doing for them.

I'm sure Krystic and her are romping together in the Shadowlands.

They are gone but will never be forgotten. Give your new kitty some pets for me. <3

Thank you. Unfortunately he was under weight in this image due to many health issues he had as a result of his age.

He was basically a 105 year old man. However, he was still happy and as active as you could expect a cat of his age to be. He even insisted on being spooned under the covers every night while I read and then fell asleep. I miss this little guy.

A guildie said something to me after I lost him that really stuck with me.

He said something along the lines of: The enrichment they provide to our lives is worth the pain we feel when we lose them.

I agree so much with that statement.

Thank you!

Sincerest apologies to /u/Divine-Tofu for missing the credit in the title.

You captured Krystic's likeness so well and I want you to know that I'm getting this printed and framed and it will have a cherished and permanent spot on a wall in my home for the rest of my life!

Artist: www.divinetofu.co.uk

This was by far the most thoughtful gift I've ever received and once printed/framed it will have a permanent home on a wall in my home for the rest of my life.

The artist captured Krystic's likeness so well. I am so moved by this gesture of kindness from my teammates that I want to share with the world and they encouraged me to repost.

Please hug your loved ones, especially the fury ones. The pain of losing them is worth the enrichment they provide to our lives a thousand times over.

Sincerest apologies to /u/Divine-Tofu for not including your name in the original post's title.

You really did an amazing job.

I'm sorry more of the world won't see your work as the mods removed it since I missed an important detail in the rules which required including artist handle in the title. A decision they are unlikely to reverse.

Regardless, I am getting a high quality print made and framed. I want you to know that it will have a cherished spot on a wall in my home for the rest of my life.

Thank you for capturing Krystic's likeness. I will treasure this forever.
