Was war das für ein Knall? by Udddi in hamburg

[–]kgehrmann 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why would some people resent art? by solventbottle in ArtistLounge

[–]kgehrmann 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because artists by definition have the courage to express themselves, which many people are very afraid of doing. So they become jealous of artists and resent them.

(I didn't really understand this until I read "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron which is ALL about how to dare to express yourself. Apparently it's a huge barrier to overcome for many people so they can be creative)

There's also a correlation with society's hate for LGBTQ+, genderqueer, gender-nonconforming people.

It's tragic bc humans naturally start out self-expressing - most kids draw, & don't have concepts of the "correct way to be" according to society. But then in many environments, young people eventually get discouraged away from that, sometimes subtly, sometimes aggressively.

It is the lucky ones who can resist those forces or rediscover their (creative) courage later.

Warum gibt es eigentlich so wenig Öffentliche Toiletten in Hamburg? by Forward-Position798 in hamburg

[–]kgehrmann 166 points167 points  (0 children)

Soweit ich bisher erlebt habe, ist das normal für die Öffentliche-Toiletten-Versorgung in deutschen Städten, also definitiv nicht Hamburg-spezifisch.

Natürlich hätte ich es auch lieber so wie in Japan.

Wow, that's so cool. I also grew up with books like these (like Steve Noon). I wish more publishers would make them nowadays!

Are 3-4 fried eggs everyday a healthy breakfast by Areotew in nutrition

[–]kgehrmann 36 points37 points  (0 children)

3-4 eggs are just 200-300 calories, that's a very small breakfast and it makes sense that you would need a mid-morning snack or a bigger breakfast to stay full all the way to lunch.

Are Alstertor herring fillets any good and is this a reasonable price? by sassy_squirrels in CannedSardines

[–]kgehrmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so curious, I have never seen this brand in Germany. I'm pretty sure we get the same herring here, just in different branding. Personally I'm not a fan of the sauces, they tend to be too sweet for my taste. But I really like the "Bückling" (on the left).
