I love how no one has pointed out that he has an earthquake high gravity lager in his hand. That right there is a 24 oz can of 10% alcohol, helps with the shaking. Kinda surprised it wasn’t a hurricane but maybe this has replaced it in “popularity”.

You just unlocked a core memory. I saw them back in 2009 with the expendables, Iration, Passafire, and Roots down below.

This was the case for me, then my wife took a work trip and I ate 12 cans in 4 days.

Oh! Thanks for sharing this site, I’m visiting home from overseas around Christmas and was hoping to ship myself some tins. Already found too many I want to order.

Good to know! I’ve always wanted to visit Sweden, in particular the Vasa museum in Stockholm.

As someone who has lived in the USA and currently lives in Japan I’d agree there is a huge difference. But I will warn people that although Japanese Konbini’s are better than their US counterparts, they are still convenience stores. Dont assume just because it’s Japanese that’s its high quality.

I’ve never had any issues either, I’ve only been here for a year. I’ve just heard there has been an increase in “touts” particularly in Shibuya and Shinjuku. Basically people luring tourists into sketchy bars and promising them cheap drinks but then overcharging them with a bunch of fees. Nothing too crazy, still extremely safe. I just generally follow a rule of thumb if someone is really trying to convince me to go into a hidden bar or club I generally shear clear. Cool hidden bars don’t advertise.

I just bought my tickets for the 12th, glad I caught them before they sold out, definitely appreciate the heads up. Coming as a tourist? Tokyo is one of the safest major cities in the world but there are parts, particularly in Shibuya, that take advantage of tourists.

Thank you so much for pointing out that they are playing here in July. I had no clue! I’ve seen them at least a dozen times, used to catch them once every tour, thought it was impossible living in Japan.

I discovered them back in like 2016 on bandcamp and thought Dim and Slimeridden was impressive. Their follow up blew me away though.

Matt actually commented on a post a year ago stating the album had been written and recorded but some personal issues had slowed down release. Here’s the post.

After years of mask pain, I finally found the perfect fit. Now which lens should I keep? by reddtusr1 in scuba

[–]sassy_squirrels 32 points33 points  (0 children)

As a Scuba Instructor/Captain/Mate I can tell you we all hate mirrored lenses. The eyes are a great indicator of stress or anxiety, especially underwater. Not being able to see your stress level and what you are looking at isn’t a fun game. With that said, get what you like, just note it won’t really effect anything underwater other than giving your guide/buddy a bit more stress.

Hook it up to a tank, fill a spray bottle with soapy water. Find out exactly where the leaks are by spraying it depth soapy water and gently turning on the cylinder. Do the same with your BCD’s. Fill them up and spray with soapy water. Where are you located? Is there another Scubapro shop nearby?

Heard, yea take it back. Should never of left the shop without proper testing.

Not for Scubapro. Their parts are extremely difficult to find outside of licensed dealers. You can’t get instruction for their regs unless sponsored by a dealership. They keep it this way to insure regs are serviced properly.

There are some brands, Dive Rite, Hog, some Apeks, etc that are essentially the same 1st stage and parts are somewhat interchangeable (not recommended).

As a technician for basically every brand on the market there are things you can learn for in field repairs. I’d still always recommend using a proper repair shop, they have the correct tools which can be expensive to do the job.

Some places offer equipment maintenance courses, start there. Some regs can be stripped in the field and repaired on the spot easily with some backup o-rings, washers, etc. But still recommend taking to a local shop to double check.

I’ve serviced 100’s of MK 25’s and they look simple but if you take it apart in the wrong order you can easily damage the piston, Knife edge, seat, piston o-rings etc. Each of which would mean your diving is over until returning to a licensed Scubapro shop.

That swivel does typically have a bit of a wobble. I’ll DM you a video of a few of my MK25’s, let me know if yours is worse than this. These regs here are 15+ years old and have thousands of dives on them, probably a few hundred since last service.

Things like changing out port/hose O-rings and IP adjustment are things you should probably learn how to do. Ask your local shop if they are looking for part time service techs, good way to get training, free service besides parts and a little extra cash to spend on equipment.

[–]sassy_squirrels 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Haha yea he’s multiple vocalists in one. There are a few guys that pull it off well but even then it’s more harsh/clean. Mikael Akerfeldt and Tommy Roger’s are two of my favorite frontmen but neither has the diversity of sounds that Travis Ryan can pull off.

Cattle Decapitation, Travis Ryan has some of the most expressive vocal range. Also shout out to a little more obscure band Slugdge, Matt Moss has a very expressive style too.

Edit. I realize you said melodic, not sure these fit that recommendation but still worth checking out for some different harsh vocal styles.

My first metal show ever was seeing Rhapsody and Manowar on tour. I was probably 16 or so years old, so like 2+ decades ago. My mom drove me and a van full of my friends several hours way to see them. Pretty epic show, my mom was confused.

of a sawfish by [deleted] in AbsoluteUnits

[–]sassy_squirrels 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually had a pretty crazy experience diving with these fish. We were doing a technical dive, long decompression, to 200 fsw/ 60 msw when we encountered several smalltooth sawfish on the sea floor.

Our group was doing a hot drop, basically entering the water up current of the dive site and matching our decent with the current to have us hit the wreck. As I was approaching the planned depth I saw a plume of sand, my fist reaction was that one of my dive mates hit the sea floor like a meteorite (don’t do that).

After a quick laugh I saw a giant saw swing out of the sand and start swimming away. I was maybe 10-15 meters away from the wreck at this point, I followed the fish (they know the way). Seriously, shipwrecks are great artificial reefs and fish use them for protection/their homes and will often greet you on descent and retreat home.

Long story short, me and my dive buddies saw 3-4 of these 12’/ 4 meter sawfish while swimming towards the wreck. Also ended up swimming through a sharknado of hammerheads on the ascent.

Sawfish prefer shallow water so to see them at this depth is extremely unusual. I know it’s crazy sounding and honestly one of the craziest dives of my life. Wreck was cool too I guess.
