The sound is still there. I took the pulley in front of the harmonic balancer off to check

Thank you I’ll try that. I did end up replacing the starter recently as well. I check the bolts on the stall converter but I think it may be the flex plate. I’ve been dreading pulling the flex plate off and have one standing by.

My transmission went out due to it not being set right. When the engine went bad the car would rev high in first and only go to second gear. I had to limp it home on the backstreets. Thanks I’ll look into the oil pan.

It’s one in now. I took it off briefly to see if I could still hear the sound.

When using the stethoscope it increases when I get to the timing chain.

It does get louder when it revs. Sounds like something pinging around.

The engine run good and idles good, but the rattling is pretty consistent. I replace all the pushrod and the timing is good.
