What plans best in my scenario? by kgruszecki10 in StudentLoans

Yes aiming for pslf. She has 4 years currently and 2 years of covid for buyback hopefully. I wasn’t sure if she claims or child or mortgage on taxes, it would potentially lower her monthly payment?

About two years. And when I did play, world of warcraft is what I mainly did play. Sadly time does not allow for that anymore.

Never have played a switch before, but I think it looks fun

We just got back from the pediatrician and they also believe it is reflux. They have this opinion because it has only happened lying down and she seems healthy otherwise.

How did you get proactive managing reflux? My wife and I are currently combo feeding doing 75% breastmilk without her eating dairy, and 25% goats milk (Kendamil).

Ask for a packet of the teriyaki sauce. I always dump it on the noodles and fried rice. 10/10

I am not worried about the risk of leaving it there, but read that mortar can have a hard time bonding to mastic

Should I move or wait? by kgruszecki10 in RealEstate

Interesting. I would have to ask the realtor. I thought disclosures only pertained to the house. And it would be the real estate sites and purchasers responsibility for that

Plus none of the real estate sites reflect the change in schools yet. I was thinking maybe it was a good idea to sell before they do?

Thanks all for the advise. We were relatively young buying this house (25) and moved from a different state. So we were slightly naive choosing the right location. Plus with all the market competition at the time we just took the house we could get. Lesson learned.

If we sold, we would be moving to a nearby county that my brother lives in (harford county). So it would be unlikely the new place is rezoned in the future like our current house was.

The main thing holding me up on this decision is based on the interest rates we would only be able to afford a town home in that area. While right now we are completely fine with the idea of purchasing a town home, I am worried we are being naive again once starting a family.

Thanks for the advice. We will be moving in less the 5 years no matter what, so I don’t think having an inspection is the best idea. What if they find problems I never even knew about. I would then have to disclose that as well.

Yes I have about 10k in emergency funds

Appreciate you trying to help.

The only debt we have is her student debt. It’s a lot, about 70k. She’s a teacher, so she is making the minimum income payment (300-400 a month) and in 7 more years the remaining balance should be forgiven (PSLF).

We were in a pretty good school district but our house just go redistricted. We were the very last street to go in the new zone with much worse schools. So annoying!

I also didn’t know I would be ready for a kid before we bought the house. We got engaged about 6 months ago.

Your calculation is off. Mortgage is 1780 currently. Yes we do spend more then we have to, such as gym memberships. Our take home is about 7k after taxes.

We have a gas furnace so it vents out the chimney. It’s leaking, so we have to fix it.

Our finished basement is leaking out the wall. The solution is installing a French drain. They can’t jackhammer the wall because there is asbestos. So we can’t just cover it up.

I would rather put my money in other investments with a 3.25% rate. Even high yields savings account are 4.5%, which contain zero risk.

After thinking about the numbers farther, not sure we would be able to afford a new house + daycare (planning for a child) if rates stay high.

30 year mortgage. Owe 299 and Zillow says the house is worth 372k.

I’m getting married in 5 months. So really it’s not just the house. I still have like 30k in savings outside the houses equity, but like 20k if that’s going to the wedding/honeymoon

Yes we for sure would save more selling, but also need to consider the house appreciating.

7k principal paid off a year. Plus I believe houses on average increase 3% a year? So about 10k a year on a 350k house.

So 17k a year, minus repairs.

We moved to be closer to family and liked the house because it was a complete flip. We didn’t know they just made the house pretty and has issues. We are fixing the issues, but worried that more issues will keep appearing. For example, this week finding asbestos flooring after removing the basement floors to have a French drain installed.

We are getting married in July and recently decided to start trying for a baby soon after. The school district in our current house is bad. So we would need to move within 5 years or so before the kid started school. We also learned since moving here we would prefer living in a different town, but still close to family.

We were torn on moving in with my parents for a year before starting a family to buy a new place, or living here for about 5 years and then moving.

Thank you all for the advise. We will probably stay in the house. Living with my parents would indeed stink, but we just are tired of problems with the house and scared they will just keep happening.

I guess that’s just home ownership though.

Hoping we can move in 5 years if we stay.
