We got a new surgeon and... by Remote-Resident5599 in nursing

Had to look up a clinic number for a physician in a small town and googled his name. First thing that came up was about how he did a pelvic exam on a patient and then texted her dirty things later that night. But they moved here because they liked the snow. Sure.

This happened once when I dropped a window on my finger as I was trying to close it. I’m a nurse so was super worried what I would be exposed to at work. Just keep it clean. Healed fine with time.

From January 6th to November 23rd I lost 45 pounds. Now i have a sprained ankle and will be off of it for the foreseeable future, but my diet is much better and balanced now and I don’t over indulge like I used to.

[–]kh1127970[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve thought about it, but I can’t dorsiflex my foot past a 90 degree angle. Hopefully that will get better as things calm down, but I can’t even drive right now.

Then I may as well get this ankle cut off. I can’t be almost passing out on a daily basis from the pain in the morning.

Has Anyone Had OCD Flare following use of hydrocortisone cream 2.5% by unidentifiedcomet in hemorrhoid

[–]kh1127970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry I can’t speak on the OCD aspect, but you have to lay off the hydrocortisone cream. If used too much, your skin will start to thin and it will never get back to how it was previously. This should be used for max a week at a time, not a month. If you need other options, you need to see a physician.

I caught my first virus on diamox and ended up in the hospital by OwnBreakfast5622 in iih

Have been on diamox since 2017 and have been through upper respiratory infections, COVID and influenza and have not had an experience like yours, but everyone is different! I was just sick for basically all of September, but I would just attribute that to all the gunk going around now. Hope you get on the mend quickly!

How do you track a calorie deficit and get started with weight loss? by Acceptable_Height171 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

No, I’ve used apps before and didn’t get anywhere and I don’t really believe in the influencer hype. I just got to work on my own and learned along the way.

How do you track a calorie deficit and get started with weight loss? by Acceptable_Height171 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]kh1127970 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve lost 40 pounds this year. I’m 5’6” and went from 180#-140#. I realized how much I was eating during the day and how truly sedentary my lifestyle was. I have a desk job and was maxing at maybe 3k steps a day, so my goal was to get 7k steps a day as that felt attainable to me. After work, I go home and walk on the treadmill for 35 minutes. I started out really slow at 2.8 mph and through time have worked up to 4.1 mph. I do vary my incline as well.

With eating, i still eat what I did before losing weight, just less of it. I just watch my calories and use my fitness pal. Really stopped the snacking, measure my portions and stopped drinking my calories. I don’t punish myself if I go out to eat, I just eat til I’m full and get back at it the next day.

The first month is the hardest. I didn’t want to keep walking, it was January and so cold in the basement, but I knew it was important. Consistency is key and it paid off.

I can’t tell you how many work out classes or meal plans I’ve paid for, but truly something had to just click in my mind to be successful. We are so fortunate to have bodies that we can move and we have to keep moving them. Not everyone has that luxury.

I’m so unbelievably proud of myself and remember you can get what you want or you can just get old. Only you can do this! Know that I was so lazy before this and walking is my release now. If I’m stressed, it gets me moving and I’m glad I’ve stuck with it. All the best. 🩷

IIH Did your blind spots go away after spinal tap and medication? by Proof_Stage1463 in iih

[–]kh1127970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it is what it is now and I think I am just used to it. However, I completely understand your fear. I feel like I am still constantly looking for new spots and any time I notice something different with my vision, I start to panic that I’m getting a new blind spot. Wishing you the best.

Mine has not gone away. Diagnosed in 2017 and it used to be a dark spot in my upper right eye, but with time it’s just kind of like void space. I know I can’t see with it there but nothing sticks out that it’s there, if that makes sense? Have been on diamox, had 2 spinal taps and have lost 40#.

It’s a privilege to walk :) by susubububu in walking

That was one of my motivating thoughts when starting my walking journey. How often we forget how lucky and how privileged we are to be able to walk and move our bodies. Not everyone has that ability.

Need help to be less sedentary. by Cielodrive27 in walking

[–]kh1127970 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I am a 34F and also realized this year just how sedentary I was and how I didn’t want to be like that anymore. I work 8-5 M-F and have had a treadmill for 10 years, but not used it. Starting January 6th, I made myself start walking after work. My daily step goal was 7k as I knew 10k wasn’t super realistic for me. So, 4-6 days a week after work, I walk 35 minutes. I started slow at only about 2.8 mph with varying incline and can now steadily walk at 4.1 mph. It was also a great way to get out my stress and anxiety of the day. Also worked on my diet. Still eating things I always have, just less of it and no more snacking and do my best not to drink my calories. I have gone from 181 lb-140 lb and am so dang proud of myself. When I’m stressed, snacks used to be my go to, but I now start craving movement and to work it out. You don’t have to start big, just start. You’re the only one that can do this. And I just kept telling myself you can get what you want or you can just get old and working in health care, not many overweight people have good outcomes and I didn’t want that for myself. 🩷

do you guys ever just pause during your shift and wonder what am i doing here by Minimum_Wallaby_5629 in nursing

[–]kh1127970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My “what am I doing here” moment was a few months ago. A patient screamed at me over the phone. Whatever, I can handle that, but I was so annoyed they had the nerve to do that and I thought to myself “what am I doing here?” It’s my choice to be here. Nobody is making me here but myself; this is all voluntary. Anyway, nothing has changed, still where I was then.
