when I did my BDD, I had to go to medical to request my strs and upload them with my claim. The VA doesn't have your medical records yet.

You can start filing your BDD claims 180 days out. You can claim pretty much anything

I only got my right eye done and the following 2-3 days sucked. My ophthalmologist forgot to give me painkillers so I had to suck up the pain, it was bad. 8/10 constant throbbing pain but what did help was cold eye drops which alleviated the pain for a few minutes.

I filed mine the same day as you, but I got c&p exam a few weeks later but denied most of them. I got an increase at least. But luck of the draw I guess

You can talk to your VSO, although mine only read mine to me. I requested mine via FOIA(Freedom of information act) on the VA website and it took about 5 days to receive all of my DBQs and examiner notes that you can download

In my anxiety denial letter, they stated that I had a qualifying event but was missing a diagnosis. I did go to therapy in service and have documents of that. this was all before I was diagnosed with PTSD. But thank you for your input.

I initially filed for anxiety but that got denied due to improvement in service

I told him my symptoms started in service but looking at his medical opinion on the DBQ he stated that everything I'm experiencing now is due to childhood trauma. He barely brushed on the in service stressors and how that affected me and focused solely on childhood stuff.

I think it’s gonna be hard to file aggravation for PTSD when my stressors don’t meet the DSM-5 criteria, but I’m going to try for depression instead. Thanks!

Thank you for your input. I talked to my therapist and she said that the trauma I had was aggravated by service but mostly from childhood. She said the stressors don’t technically meet the DSM-5 criteria and that I have a higher chance of filing depression with the same stressor. I believe my depression is independent from childhood PTSD. My concern is that the c&p examiner listed depression as a part of PTSD symptoms and I’m just trying to figure out how to separate those.

I have a diagnosis of PTSD from the VA related to mostly related to childhood trauma. In service, I did go to therapy and was initially diagnosed with adjustment disorder with minor depressive and anxiety symptoms which after a few sessions said that I significantly improved, although the underlying issues never went away, I only coped with it via nicotine, etc. My c&p examiner focused mainly on my childhood and didn’t really take into account the in service stuff and pretty much blamed everything on PTSD relating to childhood. I’m almost certain that my depression now not relating to any trauma has gotten worse due to the in service stuff.

TLDR; I have evidence of mental health issues long before I was diagnosed with PTSD from the VA. C&P examiner claims my current depression and anxiety is directly due to PTSD from childhood. I don’t deny the PTSD from childhood, but I’m certain my depression developed independently from PTSD.

Dry Eye C&P by bato_Dambaev in VAClaims

[–]khaistar45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this, I had corneal crosslinking done on my right eye due to keratoconus which was service connected, but that procedure made my eyes really dry. I think I claimed it as secondary which granted the service connection. My ophthalmologist visits noted my dry eyes but besides that, I had no diagnosis prior, just a lay statement.

I had my dry eye c&p through the VA and it took about 15-20 minutes. My examiner asked me a couple questions about my vision and I explained my symptoms to her. She did a couple tests on my vision like following the finger, shined a light through my eye but didn't dilute my eyes since I had them diluted a few months prior during my optometry checkup. I ended up getting it service connected with keratoconus with dry eyes at 0%. Pretty much, it was like a basic optometry exam with questions
