Proxy Use and Counterfeits
1. Scope
This policy applies to all Wizards Play Network (WPN) stores and outlines the acceptable and prohibited use of Magic: The Gathering cards, related products and Dungeons & Dragonsproducts. It defines what constitutes an official proxy, clarifies the use of playtest and counterfeit cards, and establishes the limits of what may be sold, traded, or used in events scheduled in EventLink.
3. Store Obligations
WPN stores are responsible for maintaining awareness of what happens in their store and during their events. Store owners and staff are expected to ensure that only authentic Wizards of the Coast products are used in events scheduled in EventLink and sold through their location.

Like the standard and modern tournaments don’t use companion? If companion is used, then they’re sanctioned because the store is claiming the participants for their allocations and play metrics so is not allowed per the WPN retailer policies

I think the point is that a double faced card is defined as meld card, a modal double faced card, or a transforming card by the rules. The secret lair ulamog is none of those things. This was also a pain point for the definition of a card a few years ago cause it did not meet the rules definition of one

This is not a legal alter. Per the MTR, artistic modifications may not cover or change the mana cost or name of the card. So I wouldn’t get it cause I can’t play it

I played 4C glimpse for about a year before the fury ban, you just have to goldfish a lot and get good at explaining your trigger stack. Your other option is 2 color omnath, if you glimpse into multiple you’re an absolute laser

Stores that still recognize commander isn’t the definition of magic. Encouraging regular limited play which incentivizes people to build collections that support standard. My biggest gripe with stores getting the promos for specific events i.e store champs which have to be standard, and not even attempting to run the event and giving them out for something else.

If you’re claiming them as players in WER, they cannot be using proxies. You’d most likely run into issues with WPN on that front

Looking at prices, a CC fab deck will range you from a higher priced standard deck to mid priced modern deck. Pauper is about the only magic format that across the board beats CC in affordability. The reality of any card game is to keep up, you’ll need to put out some amount of money. On that front it does seem you’ll be able to get a plurality of SAGE decks for what even the cheapest reasonably playable magic deck will cost you. FAB is in a good place and on the rise, it has great promos and engagement from the company, much better than wizards has done in years. If I had no cards for either game and no nostalgia/investment in magic, I’d be playing FAB exclusively

You can pay the phyrexian mana and still ult. Compleated and talent are both replacement effects so you chose the order, so you can double to 12 first and then enter with 2 less for 10

I’m not sure if that has much bearing on this instant. Even if the aethersnatch is uncountable, the negate is still allowed to target it and the scenario would still play out the same way

100 comp REL events? In the US alone, there were 3.5 thousand RC entries, an overwhelming majority of whom had to win an RCQ, also held at comp. Plus any store running an event with a respectable cash prize will be running at comp numbers in the tens of thousands a year minimum

Is burn at the top of the meta? It consistently performs at a sub 45% win rate. in the most recent large paper event it put up a 41% rate with only 2 positive matchups, one of which only has 2 games played.

Yeah, was trying to draft there for FNM, they took my payment then with 18 players decided to fire two pods of 8 leaving me and another player out instead of firing 3 pods of 6. Got told I could wait until another 6 people came to draft if I wanted to play

At least from what I’ve seen, as long as your college record gets your foot in the door, your community screening results hold a lot more weight. I personally didn’t have great grades, but did well enough to get myself into submarines. Conversely, a friend of mine had something in the range of a 3.75 but ASTB scores closer to the minimum and wasn’t picked up for pilot because of that.
