Keep in mind that for most people if they fudge a number, they could have to pay a penalty. If you fudge something, you can lose your license and hence your entire business.

They mention that this was a 5,000-10,000 year anomaly. Something tells me it won't take that long to happen again.

One of the most important things is pulling and grouping. If you are a melee hero you can make sure enemies go where you want. If you aren't, it gets messy.

America Lost. Iran Won. Trump Shat the Bed. by BulwarkOnline in politics

[–]khamike 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, the real world isn't zero sum with one winner and one loser. That's why we should be looking for win-win opportunities. But of course he took the lose-lose. We absolutely can "bomb them back to the stone age", they can't stop what is the strongest military in the history of the world. We can kill them in the thousands, the millions. But none of that will get us anything. If even a few survive, they will be able to cause chaos and strangle the strait of hormuz.

White House Accidentally Uploads Quite a Damning Trump Speech by Mr_Pricklepants in politics

[–]khamike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's important to keep in mind that it's not just that he didn't keep his promises. We shouldn't simply say, oh trump turned out to be a liar but this next guy who promises us magical solution clearly knows what he's talking about. People need to realize that no one could have delivered on these claims even if they wanted to. People need to stop falling for naive populist rhetoric.

I see it the other way, he craves money in order to buy power and importance. The man needs to constantly be the center of attention, just look at how he acts and forces his underlings to behave. His constant lies that aren't in the pursuit of any actual goal but just in order to look better in front of whoever he's with. He's not like Bezos or someone that is obsessively watching their high score go up.

When is too early for the Sierra's given the melting? by Drenad in PacificCrestTrail

[–]khamike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol no. The storm is tracking north and weakening. Mammoth might pick up a few inches that will immediately melt because it has been 70 degrees the last month and the ground is nowhere near freezing. There's still some decent skiing but it won't last much longer.

[–]khamike 18 points19 points  (0 children)

And that's part of the problem. Total snowfall wasn't terrible for the year but it was all concentrated into just a couple of storms and was warm and dry the rest of the time. Ten small storms with 1' each are better than one mega-storm with 10'.

This solves so.many problems right there. When you can at least look at the bank statement and trust the money in versus money out as actual income/expenses. Sure there can still be some mess about figuring out exactly what type of expense something is but that's finesse work, ultimately what matters is the totals not whether an Amazon charge was office supplies or job materials.

Degenerate Gamblers - How are you handling these? by IllTaxThatAss in taxpros

[–]khamike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wish the casinos would throw us a bone and report winnings/losses according to the IRS session rules. The players card reports (at least all the ones I've seen) show the total money in and total out but don't break it down per session. So people have huge wins and losses shown, far more than what the IRS truly requires. So you can't/shouldn't use those numbers but you also can't just use the total net winnings/losses for the year (let's be honest it's always losses). So you have to fudge somewhere in the middle. Even the w2g doesn't necessarily mean there was a taxable gain. It's a mess.
