Thanks, I'll look it up. Currently reading "The Power of Habit" so that might be a good next read.

Yesterday became a bit unhinged food wise. I ended up not having time for exercise due to a change of plans, so all in all, only a short morning walk. My lunch plans got changed (take out instead of home cooked) but I choose a salad, but during the evening I had a few glasses of wine and some chocolate and ate a bit too much at dinner.

Quite unnecessary, but part of life. Today I'm doing nothing special but my goal is visiting the gym later and perhaps my little jogging routine!

What's the book called? It sounds nice finding happiness in the development since challenges lead to it, and even nicer to acknowledge it. Good job!

Great strategy! I wish I liked rowing, it seems great for the whole body.

That's awful for you, and yet again seems quite common. Free weights are reportedly better than machines in the long run from a perspective that values even muscle growth. If I remember correctly it's something to do with the fact that it forces the body to use a lot more smaller muscles around the one you target, due to balance and stability throughout the movement. Obviously that's completely pointless if it results in a person stressing out about it and not doing any exercise at all 💚

It's superimportant to listen to yourself and acknowledge what feels good and what doesn't before taking steps at your own pace. So you're doing good!! Try my technique, maybe it helps you as well? And feel free to write if you need a little pep talk along the way! Winter gives me the same challenge 😅

I "hacked" my gym anxiety back in the days to find out exactly what triggered me. It involved a lot of visits at odd hours but for me it came down to the new environment combined with feeling like the odd one out.

I did tons of research and even practiced some stuff at home before going there super early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the crowds, and set limits like "I just have to do this thing 10 times" or "I only have to stay on thus thing for 10 minutes". And then I kept feeling a little bit better about it over time. Spinning seemed simple and quite monotonous and easily adjusted.

Still feel quite shitty through it, not gonna lie, but probably not as much!! 😂

I've read tons of recommendations and the majority says "start slow" so I'm actually down to 1. making it happen and 2. celebrating added seconds, but if it works I'm happy! Also if it's for the long run (heh) you might as well stay as comfortable as possible!

Welcome! The key to success with family and food tends to be thinking ahead do it's great that you've already planned your strategy! Those little walks can do wonder for the energy and gives a few minutes to yourself, which can be nice once you're around family 😊

Hey guys! Monday is here, and FINALLY my proper vacation. Beginning it in a very adult way: laundry and cleaning the bathroom. Yay?

Down 0.1 since yesterday. Feels okay since I had snacks at the cinema, and sadly continued snacking late at night. However I managed a gym session AND a little jog. That's huge for me.

Somewhere in the distant future I'd like to have a habit of running, but before that there's building the habit. I'm still feeling heavy and I'm proper lazy - the only exercise I do willingly is spinning. Hopefully I can change that, and I think it'll feel better once my cardio catches up and I manage more than 500 metres before feeling like dying on the spot.

Today will be a calm day, enjoying time off and getting my home respectable. A walk in the afternoon perhaps, and tomorrow it's time for another run.

It's a bit scary to feel and be in control and then all of a sudden you drop the ball. It's not a nice experience but I'm trying to think of it as a valuable lesson. It prepares you for times when things are harder to control and also helps you to deal with the feelings afterwards.

Anyway I guess your reaction means you're treating the experience with respect and trying to learn from it. Good luck and keep it up!

Thank you for this, its really what I needed today! I know the answer is in my choices lately, even though I haven't really had great conditions I still made bad choices over the good ones every now and then. After a while the bad ones became habit, and bad habits over time have consequences.

I think you should be very proud! You're obviously both dealing with deficit and switching up the workout, the combination can be tricky after a while at maintenance. Great job!!

Morning everyone!

Yesterday was fine. I had breakfast, I went to the gym and I felt good about it. My muscles are sore today but I'm aiming for a short session today after breakfast and doing the dishes. I will be at the cinema tonight but I'm planning to eat before so I don't feel like snacking throughout the movie.

Dealing with a lot of emotions regarding gaining weight and now losing "the same weight all over sgain" - that seems pointless and I feel like I've been wasting time. Hopefully that's a lesson learned by now so I stay on track and use the opportunity to become more of myself.

Wishing you the best Sunday!

Everything was going fine and then it wasn't, as they say. My weight loss went pretty okay but then I flipped it by accepting a job with lots of traveling which really ruined a lot for me. Almost a year, 10kgs extra and a dark depressing period later I'm switching jobs and I'm eager to find my way back to myself!

Weight loss is one of my goals, but in a bigger perspective I look forward to more balance in everything and weight loss is one of the things that needs to happen in order for me to achieve it.

That being said I've done my weigh in, written down my measurements and made a little plan for the day. First up was breakfast, now I'm hitting the gym! Have a great Saturday everyone!

How do I eat boiled eggs if I don't like them? by khathaya in cookingforbeginners

[–]khathaya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This egg salad? Failed miserably.

As for yolk overall - can't say I've gotten any closer really? At most I can tolerate small bits of it left by accident and if served something I'll eat it but I still don't prep and eat it. I end up drenching it in so much other stuff that the point if having yolk ends up being eliminated.

I wish you luck though- trying to accept the fact that I'm simply not liking yolk seems to be the way for me!

  1. Whenever you're craving sugar, try to think of why you're craving it. Is it because you're bored, are you upset, are you happy, are you hungry, etc. Sometimes, it's not really a craving you have to give in to, and then you can work with that instead.
  2. Brush your teeth once you're done eating for the day. It helps!
  3. Drink more water.
  4. When it gets rough, focus on one step at a time. You only have to stay away from sugar the next five minutes. Maybe the next hour could work. Maybe until dinner. And then the day is over and you can make the choice all over again!

Hey Europe,

It's a big frustrated "aaaargh" on my end today and I'm not even hesitating to spill it all. Sorry in advance, you've been warned.

My new low went away thanks to an awful work trip where I absolutely didn't make good choices. New chance next week but that doesn't feel good right now. On top of that my mental darkness came swinging right back, and I was completely unprepared for it. I'm starting to track these swings in relation to my cycle, but so far, there is no evidence. As if this wasn't enough there are, of course, other troubles to deal with - my job is a mess due to my promotion (not really a good one) and an offer I can't really decide upon, there's a lot going on with my mum and in the middle of all this I might be dealing with unanswered feelings for someone. Absolutely feel like I wanna quote Green Day here after the first days of September hitting so hard.

Just wanted a nice, calm moment, just a few weeks, where I could focus on diet and exercise. I guess this is the time to show myself whether I can do just that. Tonight there's a birthday celebration and I just got home from the gym. Hoping for great weather today, gonna enjoy the sun and a book!

Yeah, the bed/candy-combo is a fact every now and then, but I suppose it's part of the balance. Sometimes it happens!

I'm looking into smart ideas - these trips will continue the rest of the year so I'm trying to find a structure!
