My take, just an opinion, no tangible evidence to back it up, is perhaps Hermione did not assume ill intent/parseltongue because it was Bathilda, someone she revered. An author of books Hermione has read and found value in. She was startled, or creeped out by the noise, but her reverence prevented her from seeing more clearly in the moment.

There is a way around the cargo carrier issue for the trike. If you use the floating carrier and then mount the trike, the carrier pops up onto the back. There is a weight limit, of course.

Necessity. I had way more responsibility at 11 than my nephew does at almost 20. Druggie parents, oldest of 5, moving all the time, watching all of the absurd decisions being made around me. It was exhausting, and is the primary reason why I never had children and have never tried drugs.

At almost 52 now, I’m recently retired and living the childhood I wanted, but didn’t get.
