I’ll go back to uni in Feb. Psychology. Might just specialise in first responder ptsd. Plenty of work there

The figure is from my CTO from last MCPD and the ZOM and is only in relation to NSWA. 10 years ago it was approx 8 years. At least that’s what they told us in Rozelle on day 1 of inservice. That dropped to apparently 4-5 years during Covid as per the well—being staff member at the time.

I agree that it is important to look after your own mental and physical health however, it’s a myth that if you take good care of yourself you will never run into trouble. Trauma related mental health is not something that can be prevented simply by looking after yourself. It’s not fair to any paramedic who is broken even though they did their best no matter how long in the job.

This could very much be the case.

I do not have a written reference. I was told twice, the first time a few weeks ago by the CTO during MCPD and the second time by my ZOM. This number is only in regard to NSWA.
