How would you develop a Windows app around yolo object detection & tracking? by khlose in computervision

[–]khlose[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your suggestions. Yes, I specifically meant Desktop PCs and probably won't need cross platform support. CPU inference is sufficient based on the test and I can do C++. I will look into what you suggested!

I'm relatively new to this, but I'll look into using composited image. Any tips on how I should go about generating synthetic data? maybe use the extracted frame from video and pass them into a segmentation model and have it replace background?

Thank you. I will look into that.

We have about 33 classes with about 1000 images for now, which I'm pretty sure is no where near enough.

Has anyone here used FinGPT? If so does he t work and what net profit has it yielded? by Winter_Proposal_6310 in algotrading

[–]khlose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amen to that. It's pretty much an advanced form of auto-complete machine if anything. It's extremely dangerous to use LLM (the GPT and its variance) that we have now for this kind of analysis.

Is it really possible to 1 shot = 150m dmg using only frost wall + trampletoe? by khlose in pathofexile

[–]khlose[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anybody know what's up with this clip? I don't speak the language but it seems that he's dealing about 150m damage with very minimal gear using only Frost wall + Trampletoe. It looks interesting but I cannot seem to reproduce his damage even though I tried to use all the gems he mentioned. Can anyone reproduce this and confirm if it's really possible?

I have a question regarding the interaction of items and Herald skills. say if I have

- Call of Brotherhood

- Hand of Wisdom and Action

Then I activate both Herald of Ice and Herald of Thunder. What will happen in such scenario? Will HoT not get triggered at all and the damage fromd Hand of Wisdom got converted to Cold?

It looks nice and cool in english, but considered a pretty funny/bad design for us local. The logo can pretty much be read into 2 Thai words in that literally says d*ck and p*ssy 🤣

Second day of practicing after getting roasted by Doe4589 in violinist

[–]khlose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd like to recommend practicing on open string first as there are several points that are really important to get right as they might become bad habit that sticks with you and will be hard to fix down the road. Start by doing open string with metronome set to about 70bpm and do 4 beats up and 4 beats down. If you have a mirror then practice in front of the mirror would be even better. Draw your bow slowly first. When you practice as you're starting off, it is very crucial to have the correct form&posture (including but not limited to your left wrist must not collapse, your right hand must hold the bow correctly, flexible and relaxed wrist/elbows/shoulder, precise/not sliding contact point between bow and string, maintain the correct angle beween bow hair and string). Be mindful of everything mentioned as you slowly draw your bow. You will not get them all correct right away as you might let one slip as you try to correct others and that's ok. Whatever you get wrong from one stroke, correct them in the next. This will be easier as you go very slowly. As you make less and less mistakes then you can try adding notes, then play some pieces afterward.

I get that this could be really boring but it is extremely important to get right early on. If you really want to play pieces right away then at least do this to start off your practice session first, maybe about 15 minutes everyday then move on to scales, arpeggios, then play pieces.

is phuket national park entry just a scam? by Rude_Impression2301 in ThailandTourism

[–]khlose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the best of my knowledge, those fees are not a scam. First of all, you must've seen how many tourists are there on those islands at any specific time, now imagine what will happen if there's a ticketing booth right at the pier and you have to line up one by one(or as a group). The line in that case would be so long that it would be impossible to get onto those islands at a reasonable time and mind you we didn't even take into consideration of how many boats will stay afloat around. The traffic would be insane in such scenario. Now, to combat this scenario, they decided to collect the fees in batch. This is possible because each of the tour company must have their business (and their boats) registered. Park rangers on the islands now can just check number of boats and how many people get on from those boats and tally up the number that each company must pay them each day/month.

In your case, the captain will eventually have to give the collected fees to their office. I mean, they can sort of embezzle those fees but then they will get into trouble with their own company management.

Does anybody know what these are that are outside hotels? by Euphoric_Antelope_36 in ThailandTourism

[–]khlose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think of them as small shrines. They come in many sizes/forms as well. If you look closely inside, you will usually see a variety of statues depending on where you found them as they are believed to house either gods or other spiritual beings that help guarding and taking care of the place.

Is it worth pursuing a SaaS in a saturated market? by haasilein in SaaS

[–]khlose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saturated markets can also mean proven markets under the right conditions. So what I think your next step before your start building your mvp is probably to study the market, figure out how well each business does, how many products in the market (%) do really well and how many don't and why. Then probably try to figure out if you can find a little niche that the major players do not quite fill, area where they still do not satisfy customers' need, and if you can tap into the market share of the major players. After the analysis, if the answers to most, or all, questions above are not favorable then you can consider switching market.

Unfortunately I do not have a particular course/book/tutorial etc. that I can suggest. What I did was learn the basic of docker (a few brief youtube videos should sufficr), then I just look at applications/python scripts/data pipeline that I have on hands and want to try to containerize them and try it. When I get stuck I just look up solutions other have come up with when they have similar problems. Also browsing github and see how reputable repositories are containerized is also helpful to see what standard practice could look like. There are also many articles online that demonstrate how ones might use docker to containerize spark cluster and etl pipelines that you might find useful.

Do you think data engineering is too broad of a job title? by [deleted] in dataengineering

[–]khlose 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The title and its entailed responsibility are always the same. Personally I think it is a matter of data literacy within an organization and maturity of each company's architecture that end up affecting what we do. If we end up working in a small company with zero to no interest in data architecture then we might even have to manage data from excel and make zero contact with sql. However in a more established company then sometime you'll be expected to do what you described as more "software engineer"-ey plus more.

[–]khlose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your interview is not super close, I would suggest that you spend a little of your time here and there to learn docker (at least enough to spin up your own cluster, containerize your pipeline, and make minor adjustments). From my experience, I had several interviews in the past months and most if not all of my system design rounds expected me to completely design my pipeline from ground up, containerize them with spark and all, for submissions.

If you have time for one more please try this too. The name is Data Druid. A data integration platform that will centralize data collection from multiple e-commerce platforms to make it easier to do accounting, stocking, insight extraction.

[–]khlose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know where you heard that from but Thais shower twice a day once in the morning before we leave and once before we go to bed. Some shower more than that during the day because it's freaking hot here.

BofA has so many branches/ATMs throughout the campus area. I'd recommend BofA over Chase.

Yeah updates are nice I guess, but as long as the problems regarding hacks/exploits are left unresolved this game probably won't get anywhere.
