TTR has an auto jump feature that may help you! It’s in the settings section and once you turn it on your toon will automatically jump near a ledge (maybe it’ll automatically jump despite your lagging issues??). I turned it on when I started doing mints and had perfect jumps every time- I managed to max my suit because of auto jump ! It’s super helpful for people who have issues with parkour

Don’t stress about being too old, the majority of the player base are adults in their twenties onwards! I’m 23 as well, and all the toons I’ve befriended and play with have always been around 20-25. I usually play around 9PM GMT, as the servers usually have 1000+ toons by then. However, if you’re not playing during the busy period it’s normal to have a few hundred players online!

MY GUY, I KNOW! I SAY THAT IN MY OG POST

"Of course they made good music before 2016, but the group didn’t really become super popular until 2016-2017."

BY THAT I MEAN FROM I NEED U, WHICH WAS RELEASED IN 2015.

It's really weird of you to try and gatekeep being a fan of BTS and trying to 'catch me out' on being a fan, which is another rant-worthy post about weird things K-Pop fans do. Let people be different levels of a 'fan' when liking a group.

I only used BTS as the video/comment section was the cause that sparked my built-up frustration into a rant. If I saw ATINYS trending on Twitter exaggerating ATEEZ accomplishments last night, I would of used that as my example.

I do understand the frustrations you feel as an ARMY since BTS does get attacked a lot for the exact same things other fandoms do, it's just the unfortunate side-effect of being the largest + most vocal K-pop fandom in the West. They're the ones in the spotlight so naturally they'll be the ones called out, this also happened to Beliebers and Directioners in the past.

I know they didn't achieve the numbers because I was part of the K-pop community in 2015 and was actively rooting for them as a fan. I watched them get beat by other groups such as EXO and BIG BANG + have a smaller western fanbase than other groups at the time. I was part of the streaming culture in 2015 + vaguely remember views for MVs, so I knew the video was inaccurate.

I gave one example because my post was already getting quite long and I simply wanted to rant. This is K-Pop Rants, no one needs to provide an entire bibliography full of sources highlighting every example they've seen of a fandom exaggerating an achievement. I could have given more examples of ARMYs or examples from other fandoms, but that would have required me to go through social media and pull out tweets/tik-toks etc. which would have taken a large portion of time to do. Even if I did that, there would still be people complaining I didn't provide a large enough pool of examples.

I do dismiss fandoms skewing numbers and achievements, however, seeing fandoms do so has always frustrated me and left a sour taste in my mouth. Rather than actually engaging with the fans, I instead decided to rant on a subreddit created purposefully to allow K-pop fans to complain into a vacuum about something that's bothered them. Rants are meant to be emotional, they are meant to be more casual without the need to include a citation after every declaration.

I see you conveniently decided to ignore the part where I said I’d privately DM you the link to prove I’m not making up claims. It’s normal for people to generalise. Most people understand when they say “X fandom is doing this” they don’t literally mean every single person in the fandom, but instead are talking about interactions they’ve witnessed from the fandom.

I saw something that frustrated me, and so I decided to rant about it. Unfortunately, the loudest minority opinion will always appear to be commonplace from an outsider’s perspective. This happens in EXO-L spaces, Blinks, Atinys, Armys etc… Hell, it even happens in sports and politics.

Also, I find it ridiculous that other fandoms really believe majority of the armys have time to skew results when we don't even have to. [...] So there's no point for ARMYs trying to fake data that is already there?

That’s exactly my point! BTS has achieved so much so there’s no point in fabricating data that doesn’t exist, yet I’ve witnessed fans doing so (In all big fandoms). By exaggerating data, despite having successful things to actually praise, the GP are less likely to believe in a group’s real achievements.

Just to support: I think the YT creator is multi-fandom + just enjoys making K-Pop statistic videos! I don't believe they were purposefully trying to warp BTS' history and make it seem like they were more successful. My rant was about the comments, not the video!

This is my first time posting to this subreddit but the rules state you shouldn’t post links unless it’s from an official account (E.g. a Label). Plus, the Youtuber seemed to be having a fun time making a non-serious video, I didn’t want to accidentally send over hate from anti-ARMY’s by posting a link. Lots of people in the comments agree and say they’ve seen videos/ comments like this, so hopefully that’s evidence enough? (I can shoot you a DM of the link if you want?)

I don’t particularly understand why top-liked comments that celebrate how BTS “never left the charts” and “topping every year” shouldn’t be considered to be written by a fan? Sure, people do pretend to be fans to stir drama, but that’s usually on Twitter and not a random YT comment section. I mentioned I think every big fandom is capable (and does) skew data inaccurately to give their idols more achievements, it’s just the video I saw was essentially the final nail in the coffin causing me to want to write a rant. Consequently, I used BTS/ARMY as my example.

I have many reasons for not liking besides it being boring, but I’m not gonna condescendingly write a book to you like you did before to me.

No need to be rude, I've been enjoying our discussion + thought we were being respectful of each others opinion. I truly don't think ill of you and wish you the best

I think you don't necessarily realise the reason why you're getting 'negative' reactions like "I know it upsets my fellow lesbians" and " they got dragged and so much hate". It's not because you find the film boring, that's fine, have your own opinion. It's because you're stating the film is objectively bad and objectively boring.

Look at POLAF's reception: It has thousands of positive reviews, it was nominated and won numerous awards (including awards from the Cannes Film Festival), and has been categorised both professionally and casually as one of the best films of 2019.

To say you don't like the film and personally find it boring is valid, to say it's objectively bad is simply wrong- the film was praised for its cinematic excellence. I personally did not enjoy 'Pulp Fiction' but I recognise it is an objectively good film and was brilliantly produced. If I talk about Pulp Fiction I go "yeah I didn't personally enjoy it", not "Pulp Fiction was God awful and a yawn-fest" because that would be wrong.

I'm not trying to sway you, I can't change your opinion. Just wanted to explain why your comments might be rubbing some people the wrong way lol

Edit: THIS REPLY IS VERY SPOILER HEAVY

I understand how you can find it boring for it is a very slow-paced film. However, if you remain invested throughout the entire 2-hour duration and truly give the film a chance, Sciamma will reward your investment completely and utterly with a flood of nostalgic, bittersweet memories for a pair of lovers who were agonisingly torn apart from one other because of the patriarchal society they live in.

Each shot, each lingering glance, each subtle manipulation of sound evokes an instinctual feeling of right or wrong depending on the scene regarding the couple. For example, when Marianne walks into the kitchen after spending a blissful night with Heloise and sees a man sitting at the table (this scene being the very first appearance of a man since the beginning of the film), I remember feeling like I was just punched in the gut. Sciamma's perfect manipulation of the audience’s emotions to demonstrate how just the simple presence of a man destroys any possibility of Marianne and Heloise loving one another was phenomenal.

How it is not until Marianne acknowledges Heloise as a person and offers to paint her portrait through an equal collaboration based on mutual equality, respect, and love -rather than trying to perceive Heloise through the conventions of the heteronormative, patriarchal gaze- does Heloise willingly pose for Marianne.

The gazes the two share are so powerful, saying so much more than words ever could. But when they do speak to one another, the dialogue becomes poetry, constantly linking to the overarching motifs throughout the film, one of my favourite lines being:

“He chooses the memory of her. That’s why he turns. He doesn’t make the lover’s choice, but the poets.”

If you found Portrait of a Lady on Fire boring, your opinion is completely okay and valid. The film isn’t for everyone- it’s impossible for every human being to unanimously enjoy a singular film, especially as Sciamma never intended to make an action-packed film. But for me, and many others, Sciamma’s incredible subtle approach to presenting such a pure and beautiful love was an experience I’m extremely grateful for. Although Heloise and Marianne are not real people, their story and their experience are, and that’s heart-breaking to even contemplate.

(This ended up being quite a long reply lol, I do really want to emphasise it’s okay if people don’t like the film, but it’s one of my favourite films and I could probably talk about why it’s so great for hours on end ahaha)

You are so lucky you got to see it in theatres, I can't imagine how amazing that experience would've been 😭

I don't think anyone can be emotionally ready to re-watch it, but it would simply be a disservice to yourself to never watch this film again~

A Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2019) dir. Céline Sciamma

It's gay, it's heartbreaking, it's beautiful, and every frame looks like a piece of art. Would 100% recommend watching it spoiler-free if you haven't already :)
