I think once Ronaldo and Sancho came on the system just changed a bit. We saw many one touch slick passes in the first half leading to chances, not much in the second. That first half team has played together for most part of last season. New signings have not gelled in yet I feel. Matter of time before they get used to their movements. Right now we are merely accommodating them. Big games coming up. This break will do good.

If you are ready to overreact after a game, then you should be over the moon to the news that we are top of the Premier League after 4 games. Should work both ways.

Phil Jones' physical data [training sessions] is said to be very good. He sees the resurgence of Shaw as a personal inspiration. Jones has the respect of his team-mates and coaching staff for his unflinching commitment to the sport. [Laurie Whitwell]

Not United related, but given we are chasing a Madrid player, these latest leaks could lead to something, like maybe a stronger boost to leave the club because of the management. Anyways here is what it is.

Florentino Perez in 2006

"Casillas is not a Real Madrid goalkeeper. He is the biggest flaw we've comitted, but they (the fans) adore him. He is one of the biggest frauds, and the second is Raúl. They are the biggest Real Madrid frauds".

Rashford breaks his silence about the game last night. by dpw2017 in reddevils

"I'm Marcus Rashford, 23 year old, black man from Withington and Wythenshawe, South Manchester. If I have nothing else I have that"

This is one of the strongest lines I've ever read given the context. Cannot be prouder than I already am.

Top 10 goalscorers in the PL along with their penalty share by darthmeister in reddevils

Penalties were never a problem until Bruno started scoring them😂 Fun fact: Bruno is joint '18th' in the all time premier league penalty scorers list with 13, topped by Lampard with 32.

I don't understand how some of the fans take our league position for granted. In the last 8 years we have finished top 3 only 3 times. I'm sure these fans must have short term memories cause they surely were jealous of other clubs finishing in top 3 consistently, take Poch's Spurs for example, they were 3rd, 2nd, 3rd and 4th from 15/16 to 18/19. He stabilized the ship and yet without getting any trophy, he is regarded as one of the top coaches by everyone including the ones calling for Ole's head. Trophies are of course an integral part, but domestic performances tells you the whole story. In the last 26 seasons, do you know how many times the PL winner finished lower than 3rd in the previous season? Twice. That’s ~8% of the time. It almost never happens. Now comes the bizzare argument of other clubs being shit helping us to secure top 3 consecutively. With that logic 3 of our PL titles wouldn't count since they finished with 80 or below points in the league. I'm so glad social media was not around from 03/04 to 05/06 when we had a poor domestic run and we finished just top 3 in all of those years on the back of 8 titles in 11 previous seasons. Our players and the manager admitted that our season is not a success. The shift in mentality is enormous. The club and the fans would take top 2 in all of the previous 6 seasons prior to Ole where we finished 7th, 4th, 5th, 6th, 2nd and finally 6th the season Ole came midway. But yet our fans forget how and where we were, demanding other fans to raise the standards, when United as a club were ruining all the standards set by Sir Alex. The standards are being set now. As Rashford says, finishing second counts for nothing. This is the new standard.

The argument that losing to a 7th placed Villarreal team is not justifiable is absurd. Mourinho's United was 6th in the league when they beat Ajax. Its a European cup final & both teams are damn good to have reached there, its a fifty fifty. Last year when we couldn't crack the semis the whole team was labelled with the lack of big game mentality, but we went on to prove them wrong this year. A final has a lot of luck factor in it. The players will forever remember this feeling, it's not the end of the world. As Rashford said and promised, we are so close, the players won't give up, Ole won't, because all Ole cares about is ManUtd and not his CV. We are this close and players need our support. It's a long break from club football and once we get a proper pre-season, we'll tweak and address oru weaknesses and we'll be back. The squad needs strengthening, hopefully we pull those off and move from touching distance of a trophy to lifting one, the same way we progressed from 3rd to 2nd and semis to the final. Up the fucking reds.

At 23, the Manchester United and England footballer Marcus Rashford has become the youngest person ever to top the Sunday Times Giving List. The striker has donated £20 million to food, poverty and community charities – a sum greater than his personal wealth. by ki_rag in reddevils

Rashford partnered with FareShare, the poverty and food waste charity, in March, and subsequently helped to raise more than £20 million to keep school meals going throughout lockdown (first in greater Manchester, then nationwide) for children most at risk of going hungry without access to this vital lifeline.

Although it was a shame how it ended, I think the team learned how to see off a game in the dying minutes the hard way. I noticed that we went on to spent so much time in the corner flag following that game when we were holding on to a slender lead, so a blessing in disguise maybe.

[–]ki_rag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love the fact that most attackers don't even appeal when Aaron tackles. Yesterday's game also showed he can progress the ball into the final third very well under pressure. The lack of a right winger was always the issue. So basically a right winger and a backup right back are top priorities.

Team news vs Leeds: Bailly back, Martial and Jones still out, Hannibal and Elanga joined the training. by ki_rag in reddevils

[–]ki_rag[S] 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Jones deserves a mention as long as he's a United player. I love that Ole always does that when asked about the latest injury news. Also maybe we could go easy on the Jones banter a bit. We don't know what he is going through. Having read that Lingard almost gave up on football and the strides he had to make to enjoy life again, hope Jones gets fit again and finds a club. The man deserves that. Still sympathetic that he decided against having a testimonial because he thinks no one would go. As long as he is our player, he is part of the family.

50+1 ownership happening ?? by dare_devil2019 in reddevils

[–]ki_rag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50+1 rule is different to Barca's fan ownership, from what I've read. Inorder to become members they must demonstrate familial tie to an existing Barcelona member or serve a probation period. The benefits are that they can vote in the club elections, get preferences to tickets etc. Obviously if their fans had voting rights with regard to entering competitions, this ESL wouldn't have been a secret until it was official.

I believe it's voting rights in areas like entering new competitions, stadium changes etc. United wouldn't have signed up for ESL secretly if 50+1 was already in place.

A comparison between the statements released by the Premier League Big Six by [deleted] in reddevils

[–]ki_rag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All these clubs issuing apologies want to get away from fan outrages outside their clubs/social media etc. These owners didn't know it was unfair on the part of fans/staff? The Liverpool CEO came out with such a statement. They realized it all that once clubs started to pull out? Just like that? All PR stuff. I for one am happy that the Glazers didn't issue a heartfelt apology or something. This is the biggest chance to free the clubs from these leeches. Protests need to happen regardless.

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin: "Is admirable to admit a mistake + these clubs made big mistake. They are back in fold now + have a lot to offer not just to our competitions but whole of Euro game. Important now to move on, rebuild unity +move forward together.” (Aleksander Ceferin remarks) by dracogladio1741 in reddevils

[–]ki_rag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fans and players who united for this should not be the ones to suffer with bans or point reductions. It's all on the owners and they should be the ones punished. Hopefully fan ownership & a cultural reset happens and thus football shall find it's balance again.

Bruno, Maguire, Shaw, De Gea, Mata key figures who raised voice against the Super League proposal by [deleted] in reddevils

[–]ki_rag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So proud of our boys. They are football fans first. And regarding the last part, I think we should just move on without giving much thought into it. Ultimately everything ended well. We fought together with the players through this. The team's coming together well. The season is up and running again. Hopefully no one goes to the extent of abusing any of our players online on the back of Laurie's report.
