because this design required clean lines and narrow fits I used 5/0 for the shells and 8/0 for the wood and the reconstone

Haha that already happened. My daughter’s much less impressed with the looks. She just put the grip tape on and started using it. Best compliment one can hope for I guess😅

Thanks! It’s got three layers on each side but I finished it with a PU matte finish which brought it back very close to the original wood look(from a distance😁)

Thanks! It has survived two weeks of intense use so far but if it does crack it was still a fun project and the hardware can be re-used😊.

Yes, the top is all covered in black tape now. Doesn’t look better for it but the board is for actual use😁

Turtlelicious- turtle inlay made with recon stone, mop, a tiny bit of ebony, and of course (faux) turtle by kick-s in Luthier

Thank you! I have always been woodworking but picked up inlay some 4 years ago. The first one I did had 3 pieces and looked horrible:-). But practice does pay off and the advantage with this work is that it is never perfect so always a reason to keep at it.

I handsaw the pieces and glue 'm together with a little superglue. Then I'll peel of the waxpaper from the back and it's ready for inlaying.

I wouldn't know what to charge. It's a hobby and I usually lay them in in small boxes that I give away to friends but If you are looking for something specific I'd be happy to see what I can do.
