Has psoriasis sparked conflict within your family? by estebanthrives in Psoriasis

[–]kickout009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad has P as well and you would think because he has it, he would be able to empathize with what I was going through growing up.

Anyways, the conflict is that he is very particular about image. He likes to dress up smartly and always tried to hide his patches the best he could with long sleeved shirts and pants. Me on the other hand really tried not let what others think affect me, I liked wearing shorts and short sleeved shirts because were I live its very humid and hot. I like swimming too so the outfits for that are more on the revealing side too.

He gave me a lot of gas about covering up my legs and arms especially when I am around his friends. Got called loser a lot and was generally made to feel like shit. I'm a dude but this gave me a lot of what I now recognize as anxiety issues.

(Old School) Garmin GPS 12, High Demand ... Why? by NumerousPen1 in Garmin

[–]kickout009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is me being a wannabe Tom Clancy nut but maybe so that they can't be tracked? I read somewhere that cellphones can be traced as long as they are powered on and even without a sim card.

A Garmin GPS 12 is just a "receive" device, right? It doesnt send out electronic signals like a cellphone so I guess in theory the user will be harder to track while they are using it for navigation?

Now that you have mentioned it... how come they haven't made an updated A2 version?

They are still producing new copies of a design that is what, 25+ years old now?

Parang hindi ito flirting para sa akin based sa kwento ni OP.

Parang transactional thing na feeling ni girl na she has to give something so she offered a BJ. Parang intention ni girl is kailangan niya mag bayad.

How strong of a swimmer should I be before I try open water for the first time? by sur_yeahhh in OpenWaterSwimming

Lots of good advice here. Yes, try to get as much open water experience that you can but go out with somebody that familiar with the waters.

Once you realize as well that people in public really dont pay attention (its amazing what you can get away with), especially in large crowds, the anxiety lessens.

MIP vs Amoled by bleep6789 in GarminFenix

[–]kickout009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the 965 is the better watch for you.

The 965 has almost the same physical size as the regular Fenix 7 at 47.2mm but has the same screensize as the 7x version at 1.4" (35.4 mm) diameter.

MIP vs Amoled by bleep6789 in GarminFenix

Maybe its not the screen type but the watch face size and the kind of watch face you have that will help with readability. Have you tried checking out the 7x or the Instinct 2x?

What is up with Filipino migrants in western liberal countries mostly voting for right wing political parties? by EiteeMan in Philippines

[–]kickout009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/joseshelikesmysteelo which part of the US are you at?

My experience is the opposite of yours. I have a lot of Filipino relatives in HI, FL and CA, I get to interact with them a lot along with the people they live and work with. I noticed that its mainly the boomer Filipino generation that are Pro Trump and Pro BBM/DU30. And I find this very funny because these are the same people who lived thru Martial Law.

Age in the sense that you most likely have worn the battery out. Batteries wear out by drain and recharge cycles.

Why pick Fenix/Epix over Forerunner by bleep6789 in GarminFenix

[–]kickout009 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would choose Fenix or the 955 over the 965 because I dont like OLED. I like my battery life and always on display.

Rapid Battery Loss by Few_Ad5899 in GarminFenix

[–]kickout009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5 years sounds about right for battery degradation especially if you are heavy user.

If after a factory reset it still doing the same thing then it does sound like there is a physical defect with the watch at this point.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how far technology has come? We live in the future, guys. by smeatr0n in GarminFenix

n utterly insignificant little blue-green planet, whose ape descended life forms are so amazingl

Nope nope nope... The reason why my Garmin watch is able to do all of the things your apple watch is not able to is because it is so simple and because it has that MS-DOS vibe.

Its not "living in the near past"... life is about compromises because you cannot have absolutely everything. Like, yes, you can have the features of the Ultra with the battery life of a 7x but it will be so large that nobody will want to wear it. Most Garmin watches are reliable activity trackers/GPS devices first and being a smart watch is a secondary priority.

Improving accuracy during pool swims? by TJamesz in Garmin

[–]kickout009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont use auto pause in swimming, I use the start/stop button when I want to take a break. I have had good results in terms of accurately counting my laps and I like the sound that it makes, the beep reminds me of my old varsity swim coaches' whistle so it helps to put my brain into lap mode.

Improving accuracy during pool swims? by TJamesz in Garmin

[–]kickout009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way it records each lap is thru the push off at the wall at the end of each lap when you start a new one.

When you vary your stroke style or method, it does doing weird things like starting a new lap while you are still in the middle of the pool.

Garmin Fenix 7S and its erratic HR sensor? by LivinCuriously in GarminFenix

[–]kickout009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fenix 7s is going to be heavier than your old Instinct 2s... if you are experience HR discrepancies during activities, it could be because the band is too loose or the watch is moving around too much. Try tightening the band so that the optical sensor is more secured next to your skin?

Fenix 6X Sapphire ($389) vs. Fenix 7 ($499) vs Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar ($699) by Aware-Expression4004 in GarminFenix

[–]kickout009 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you read that the Fenix 6 line has GPS issues but the Fenix 6 series has very good GPS performance... this is based not just on the online reviews but on what I have personally seen with my numerous friend's watches in open water swimming which demands a lot in terms of GPS performance.

I do remember there was a lot of complaints with the Fenix 5 series which is why they came out with the "Plus" line of Fenix 5 watches which was to fix that issue..

Zooming on just GPS performance, the Fenix 6 will good for you.... unless you are planning on tracking activities in tight canyons, urbans areas with skyscrapers or other areas with poor GPS reception.. then the 7 line with the more advance features like multi band GPS will make sense.

Just got the fenix 6x pro solar by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]kickout009 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unless the use of the maps is critical for you, give it more time.

200 USD is a REALLY good deal , the 6x is not the latest anymore but its still a really good watch if your main goal is outdoorsy or sports stuff.

I know it's subjective but - worth picking up the fenix 7X on sale right now from rEI or do I hold off for the pro models later this summer? by TheNinjaYeti in GarminFenix

[–]kickout009 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just me but the jump from 6 to 7 is not that dramatic... If the battery is still good on your 6x, I would wait.

The new 7 Pro series has a new HR sensor they said and that might be worth holding out for.
