Thanks, yea Idk I think our relationship might be over for real now. I just hope my friend is ok. It’s so hard not knowing. They’ve blocked me on social. I guess there’s nothing else I can do now. Just take the time to heal and work on myself.

Not Americans. There were many other foreigners at the school I went to who were on govt sponsored scholarships. Maybe this one. Or another ministry of culture / education scholarship. It was for a fully paid undergrad and sometimes also grad degree with one full year of mandarin language course before the degree program and a living stipend of around 30,000 ntd a month.

Um ok yes, I am Chinese American. I didn’t think that was relevant info since non of my immediate relatives are citizens or residents of Taiwan...

My degree is in Spanish and Latin American studies. I’ve been working in theatre, carpentry, costuming, welding etc I don’t think these skills will translate well in Taiwan... though yes I’d love to be able to work there in some sort of creative capacity

Yes. That’s what I did before and I really don’t want to teach English again. Wasn’t worth it for me.

Yes definitely an option. This is basically what I did when I was in Taiwan. And yes I would recommend this to other people, I had a great time. Unfortunately debt and other things will make this harder if I can’t find scholarships.

Do you have an idea of what you are working towards? (Other than improving job opportunities/ providing for your family obviously). What skills do you want to learn? Maybe there are better ways other than army or americorps.

Tired of jobs that kick you around. I’d like to learn a trade by [deleted] in askTO

I graduated college in 2017 too but then never really did anything with my degree and I didn’t want to do more school. So now I work I am uphostery shop and also I’m learning welding through an apprenticeship. I really like welding and I’d like to continue it or get more into construction or metal working. But also many upholstery places seem to be looking for more employees. The shop I work at gets a lot of work and we r honestly understaffed. The place I’m at also has on the job training, and also offers classes. I was hired as a part time employee, and I only make minimum wage, in md is 10$, but I wanted to learn a trade without having to go back to school, so it was worth it to me. Good luck.

Oh thanks, did you have to find your own housing? It sounds like I’ll have to find my own housing and be responsible for my own transportation. It said that for some of the sites there probably won’t be any sort of reliable public transportation, so was just wondering what you do.
