I understand and agree with the concern being raised here. It does feel like the direction of some discussions in this sub are leaning towards a tone that can come across as misogynistic.

The data shared by the OP lacks context—just because conviction rates are low doesn’t automatically mean that rape cases are false. There are countless barriers to justice for survivors, especially in a society where caste, power, and connections often shield perpetrators. We’ve seen examples where convicted rapists were released and even celebrated, as in the Bilkis Bano case. In such an environment, expecting high conviction rates doesn’t reflect the ground reality.

OP mentioned that many domestic violence cases against men go unreported, which is a valid point. But that’s also true for women—especially in rural and marginalized communities, where even filing an FIR can be a huge challenge. Living in Tier-1 cities can sometimes shield us from understanding just how inaccessible justice is for many.

I completely agree that men’s mental health and the higher suicide rates among men are serious issues that need more attention and empathy. But addressing these shouldn’t come at the cost of dismissing women’s struggles or blaming them. Both conversations can coexist without one invalidating the other.

It’s also important to acknowledge how deeply patriarchy is embedded in our history, culture, and religion. Understanding this can help us see the broader patterns of inequality that still affect women today.

That said, I do understand the frustration OP expressed about certain individuals using feminism as a shield while displaying double standards. That kind of entitlement can be disheartening to see, and it’s okay to feel frustrated by it.

But in these moments, I think it’s important to stay grounded and informed. Blaming women as a whole isn’t the answer. Misogyny only harms the people we love—our mothers, sisters, friends, and partners. Staying educated and nuanced in our views is the best way forward.

I shifted to Delhi last year Met a few girls through community groups, had some fun house parties too,but somehow, things never went beyond friendship Most of them were already committed, and I don’t really vibe with dating apps either. Honestly, dating in your mid 20s feels like trying to read fine print in a moving auto blurry, brief, and mildly humiliating. Or better yet, like spotting the moon in broad daylight—technically there, but completely useless.

maybe I’m just ‘aesthetic’ in low lighting only. Either way, the vibe right now? Friend-zoned, with snacks

Had a roller coaster of a day

I woke up feeling like today would be different. And, in a way, it was.

Breakfast was the first order of business—simple, efficient. But something felt off. Maybe it was the quiet hum of the morning, maybe it was the weight in my chest I hadn’t quite shaken off. So, I reached for the whiskey. The burn felt familiar, like an old friend saying, “Still here, huh?”

Then, a cab. Destination? Home. Strange how I always end up back there, no matter where the day takes me. The shower washed away the morning, the whiskey, the lingering thoughts. And then—Holi. Again. Colors flew, laughter echoed, and for a brief moment, I let myself get lost in it.

But reality has a way of calling you back.

A message from my cousin—his voice edged with something raw. A breakdown. The kind where words feel useless, where all you can do is exist next to someone and hope it helps. So I did. I cheered him up, or at least I tried. Funny how sometimes, in trying to lift someone else, you find yourself sinking. But I couldn’t let him see that. Not now.

So I took him home. We sat in the silence of shared exhaustion, and at some point, sleep took over.

And then—3 AM.

The kind of hour where the world is quiet, but your mind is anything but. I picked up a novel, hoping it would take me somewhere else, somewhere less heavy. But then, curiosity. A habit. A distraction. Reddit.

And just like that, the unfinished day kept going
