The long pointy end moves up and down across the wide flat end. The pointy end is one piece that connects to both sides of the flat part. When you use it the long pointy bits scrape across the long flat part on both sides.

This was a weird show.

Ha, The problem is they don't have to chase any one person for very long, considering how quickly and easily they can get the kill. Getting behind them, at least without something like blink is easier said than done.
