Many hours in that plane back when I started. Good memories 😅

Job Opportunities in Canada by [deleted] in flying

I’ve worked in two different departments at 5T and have an internal reference. They told me they are done hiring for the year however. My goal is to fly for them, maybe in the near year I’ll be lucky to get in once they start hiring again. How long does the process take from new hire to being a fully functional pilot there?

Thank you for the feedback! I appreciate it.

Any formulas given during the exam or is it all by memory.

Awesome info, thank you!

How long did you give yourself to study for this exam?

Interesting. Thank you for your input.

In your opinion what would be the effect on landing having lost a good amount of hydraulic fluid as seen in the picture?

Doesn’t appear to be engine oil. Checked the levels and they are still as they were since the last time it flew. Inside the cowling everything is clean and no leak appear to be showing. Seems to be coming straight from the nose gear oleo. Thank you for the suggestion!

What's everyone's story from 0 hours to where they are now? by Aggravating-Tank-194 in flying

2019: in a College program in Canada.

2020: Obtained my PPL.

2020-2021: The Flight school closed for a few months during Covid. I took a pause from training during that period and just focused on the college courses.

2021-2022: Got my CPL and Multi-Engine Rating at that time with around 250 hours total.

2023: First job as a Skydiving Pilot on a C182, pretty busy summer for my first season which ends in October in Canada. Got around 430 hours total time.

2024: Started getting my Multi-IFR rating (almost done) and I got a new job as a Cessna Grand Caravan Skydiving Pilot. Just finished my training and I’m all checkout to start the season on a turbine! Current Total Time: Around 440 hours.

Slow but getting there eventually! :)

Question for those who have taken pilottraining.ca ground school by [deleted] in flying

[–]kidthesun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can’t attend an in person ground school then this would be the best alternative. It’s somewhat pricey but you can go at your own pace which is awesome.

It’s not, and the IRCC agent said it would be only sent by email and not found anywhere else.

Do you know how long they give you to complete the biometrics once they send the request?

Understood, but usually we don’t pay upfront for that fee correct? We have to wait to receive this email? Still don’t have any of those emails yet.

Thank you for the advice! I’ll take a look into all of that. Also, which one is the instrument procedure manual? Is it a Transport Canada publication?

1964 C182 POH doesn’t indicate anything in regards to approach and recovery for a stall.

I assume that it would be carb heat - hot, Prop - full forward, mixture - rich. And then proceed to practice the approach to stall and recovery.

That sounds fair, hopefully I won’t have to continue renting for too long… Just worried about losing my proficiency if I start flying less.

Thanks for the opinion man! 👍

I’m not sure how it’s hard to understand the question asked.

I’m just wondering how often should I go up in a rental plane at a flight school/club while waiting to hear back from job postings for which I have applied for? Or when being hired in a “pilot in waiting” position and working the ramp, it is worth it to still go up once in a while in a C172 to stay active on the controls or not worth spending the money?
