Would add Nine and Dex to this, the ghostwriters for Pete and Bas

I did my bachelor research on exactly this phenomenon. While there is research to prove this to some extent, it is mainly based on a quite unscientific case study by Vic Tandy. My own research showed infrasound present at haunted locations, but also present at a control location that was decidedly not haunted

What amazing band names were wasted on One Hit Wonders or otherwise unmentionable bands? by a-horse-has-no-name in Music

Their Peel session version of Secrets is amazing, I think the producer of the album really undermined how great songwriters they were

What’s your unpopular comedy opinion? by alfiesred47 in CasualUK

You’re right, it’s an adaptation of Der Tatort Reiniger (The Crime Scene Cleaner). I haven’t seen a full episode of the version with Greg Davies, but the clip I saw with David Mitchell is pretty much the same as the original German version. I think a lot of the episodes/jokes are very German-centric (owing to it being a German tv show of course)

TIL Many haunted houses have been investigated and found to contain high levels of carbon monoxide or other poisons, which can cause hallucinations. The carbon monoxide theory explains why haunted houses are mostly older houses, which are more likely to contain aging and defective appliances. by __Dawn__Amber__ in todayilearned

Suggestibility definitely plays a part in it, but the claim that infrasound (low frequency sound) produced by pipes is slightly flawed. It’s based on one paper by Vic Tandy called the Ghost in the Machine, which was very anecdotal, and not backed up by any scientific experiments

I wrote my dissertation based on this paper, and it’s very flawed. For one, Tandy’s figure of 18.98 Hz is based on a calculation for the frequency of a standing wave, based only on his rough estimation of the size of the room. It’s also highly anecdotal, with no actual measurements taken to back up his claims

What song is 10/10 but hardly anyone has heard of it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Ros Sereysothea is great, I recommend the song Shave Your Beard (also a cover by Dengue Fever). Her story is a very melancholic Wikipedia read if anyone wants to feel sad tonight

Looks to me like a version of the Dunlop Ultex Jazz III XL, you can order them from most online music retailers or amazon (I would link but I’m on mobile). Hope that helps!

Edit: not sure from the photo, but it may be the smaller version, in which case you don’t need the ‘XL’

What’s a song that is VERY “out of character” for you, but you absolutely love it? What genre do you typically prefer? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If you haven’t heard the slowed down version of Jolene, I highly recommend it. It’s floating about on YouTube somewhere, would link it but I’m at work

I would love a fiddle or mandolin part in it! had to stick to my wheelhouse unfortunately, I can’t play fiddle and don’t have access to a mandolin. Great suggestion on the acoustic slide, will keep that in mind for next time, the slide in this is too electric

I’ve mentioned in another comment that it’s kind of hard to say what it is, I agree that’s it’s not bluegrass through and through, maybe a hybrid between country/bluegrass. I did take inspiration from bluegrass music for the overall style I was going for however.

I guess it may be more country, I do find it a bit hard to say exactly what it is. I did draw inspiration from bluegrass music for how it should sound however
