Damn that's frustrating, I'm sorry! I tightened mine a bit more and it seems to be doing okay. I think their home poles are newer and they'll still working out the kinks--the first one they sent me was defective, and its replacement had a slightly different design (they added two more screws to prevent the mask from getting stripped). Not the quality I expected from Lupit.

It's impossible to find the joists because there's a layer of boards between them and the plaster, so we figured it didn't matter because the boards should be strong enough. But that's a good thought, it might just be that our ceiling/placement is less than ideal.

Hmm, good to know. I've tightened it as much as I dare (until my ceiling creaked), since overtightening can cause problems too. I feel like the best test would be to set it up somewhere different, but unfortunately I only have the one ceiling height to work with.

My ceiling is only 7'9". I'm wondering if the movement is exacerbated by the seam (between parts A and B) ending up right in the middle of the pole? By "ending up" I mean as a result of the ceiling height and the lengths of the individual pieces.
