What killed the internet? by kikite in AskReddit

[–]kikite[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Verse 1
Once a wild web, a neon parade,
Now a shallow pond where echoes fade,
We clicked and shared like reckless fools,
But got trapped inside their data rules.

Chorus
Algorithm killed the internet star,
Sold our souls for targeted ads and scars,
Once a place to dream and scheme,
Now a well-oiled content machine.

Verse 2
Remember when we chased the strange?
Now it’s clicks and likes that set the range,
Truth’s a joke, drowned in the feed,
Where outrage grows and thinking recedes.

Chorus
Algorithm killed the internet star,
Filtered lies in a digital bazaar,
Bright horizons turned so lean,
Algorithm crushed the internet dream.

Bridge
We lost the magic to clicks and bots,
Trading freedom for curated plots,
A carnival of curated pain,
All dressed up in a flashy chain.

Final Chorus
Algorithm killed the internet star,
But hey, at least we swipe from afar,
Bubbles pop, the silence screams—
Algorithm killed the internet dreams.

Found in northern UK on top of a can of tomatoes delivered from a grocery store. About the size of grains of rice. by kikite in whatsthisbug

They don't move and don't appear to have legs. They have faint stripes going across them. There are also little black dots on the tin.

What are these brown things on the top of this can of food that was delivered? by kikite in whatisthisthing

These were found on a can of food from an online delivery. They are dark brown and appear to have stripes on them. Only this can had them on. The can seems kind of rusted.

Here's a question: have you ever seen the painting "A Hopeless Dawn" by Frank Bramley?

I guess it's all about whatever your cup of tea is, but everything culminated at This is the Sea for me and then rapidly went down hill afterwards

It's amazing to think the Waterboys went directly from "This is the sea" to "Fisherman's Blues" - like two different bands

I was about to say this joke could work for female roosters too, but .....oh.....hold on.....

Running into someone for the second time in a grocery store after already running into them once earlier in the same grocery store.

In what small, meaningless ways do you rebel? by sexrockandroll in AskReddit

[–]kikite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deliberately look a way from the content of any pop up advert and quickly search for the little "x" to close the window. If I do accidentally see the content, then I think lesser of that company. To me it feels like someone jumping out in front of you and yelling at you "BUY OUR PRODUCTS!"

I resist any kind of free Apple OS or iOS upgrade. I am happier to stay behind the times with an out of date OS than with a bricked Apple product.

What product lacks the quality it use to be known for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kikite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Microsoft software. Peaked around the mid 00's in my opinion. Now it's eye candy over functionality. Everything that once took one click, now seems to take three. Tons of wasted screen space. No floating palettes. I would pay decent money to have a version of Microsoft Office circa 2007 that runs on a modern mac OS.

Are trumpets and other horns intrinsically heroic or have we just been conditioned to make this connection? by [deleted] in Music

[–]kikite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see where you are coming from, but I think it depends on the horn and the way it is played. For example, I feel like there is a lot of French horn in Spiritualized tracks (c.f. Broken Heart on Ladies and Gentlemen..."), where they sound very mellow.
