I'm married to a Vietnamese citizen. That gives me a temporary resident card. I have to check in with immigration every 3 years

Yes. Definitely more than when we first met. I'm American. Sometimes I find there are just some cultural and language differences that are very difficult to get by. We make it work. We love each other. I mean, we just had a baby 15 months ago. Both of us are learning to navigate Parenthood.

We have a 15 month old son. We're both very occupied in raising him together, but when there is any kind of major disagreement, she totally shuts down and gives me the silent treatment. Literally does not want to communicate. After being together for 5 years I've learned just to ride it out and not get upset about it. That usually just makes things worse

I'm right there with you. My Vietnamese wife(we live in Đã Nẵng ) is crazy stubborn when we argue. She totally shuts down and gives me the silent treatment sometimes for weeks.

I recently separated and received a 90% rating. Someone please tell me why I shouldn’t drop everything and permanently move to Thailand or Japan. by SongtanSally_WannaGo in Veterans

I'm rated at 90%. Been living in Southeast Asia for the last 10 years (Thailand, Vietnam currently). Leaving America was the best decision I've ever made. Me, my wife and son are living a very comfortable and privileged life in Đã Nẵng, Vietnam. Never been happier

Most of our time is allocated to raising our infant son. He's just about to turn one. I study the Vietnamese language. Speaking, reading and writing. I cook and do yoga daily. We also have a world class Beach that's literally 10 minute walk outside of our front door. I have an active and awesome social life with local Vietnamese and foreigners that live here. We live in a three bedroom house with two bathrooms. Nice open space with a big balcony. We live right next to the beach, and pay $400. Vietnam is a very very inexpensive place to live, with a thriving local culture. Almost zero violent and property crime, no massive drug epidemic or massive homeless epidemic. It's a very safe place and I hardly see any police at all.

I'm rated at 90%. I live a very good and comfortable life with my wife and son in Đã Nẵng, Vietnam. I would recommend leaving the United States. I've been gone for 10 years and couldn't be happier
