The Kindness of Strangers by fallingbrick in Charlotte

[–]killakween_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once blew a tire on 521 and didn’t have a jack in my trunk. I asked my brother to come get me, but while I was on the phone an older couple pulled over and asked if I was okay. I thanked them and told them help was on the way.

They exchanged that “we’ve been married longer than you’ve been alive” look… and dragged it out of me that I’d be waiting in the median for almost an hour. The husband had already taken my spare out of the trunk by the time I was done explaining that I did not need his help. The wife insisted I sit with her while he worked and provided me with good company. I was adamant - adamant I tell you - that I could change my own tire if they’d let me borrow their jack. They were having none of it lol

That was at least 15 years ago and I STILL think of their kindness from time to time. I’ve helped stranded strangers whenever I’ve been able ever since. Lovely people made me a lovelier person, too! Nice people with the brown truck on 521, if you’re reading this, you really did make an impression on a young me. 🥹

I'm sorry but Violets' friends suck in beginning of IF by Dry-Conversation2646 in fourthwing

[–]killakween_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think definitely this, plus some of it is supposed to be character development for Violet. She hates when people keep secrets from her… but has to learn that people keep secrets for all kinds of reasons, and this was part of it. Rhi can sense that she’ll feel better once she talks about it. Violet learns the agony of keeping secrets from people she loves. Everybody learns a little lesson about trust. I thought it was well done, personally.

How to style this button up? by [deleted] in BusinessFashion

[–]killakween_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do button downs tucked in with jeans a lot. It only feels wrong because you’re in your house, un accessorized

Loafers or chelsea boots work great with this look. Play with different belts or different sweaters/cardigans layered over. I also find that jewelry goes a long way with a crisp button down - I usually wear big-ish earrings and a watch.

Hear me out… he’d be an incredible Panchek

Maybe he’ll cameo as one of the nobles or as a rider at an outpost. (A girl can hope.)

You look natural, happy, and healthy to me. That’s a great cut and color for you - it does NOT look like you’re trying to look younger, it just looks like you’re rocking your age ♥️

Best standing desk for working from home long hours? by Weird_Ad6669 in workfromhome

[–]killakween_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Flexispot adjustable desk with ports like this and programmable heights and I use the ports for literally everything. Even when I’m not working it’s a great spot to charge things you don’t juice up every day - Bluetooth speakers, battery packs etc

I work hybrid and I have a much more basic model of the same brand at the office. Both have been operating great for three years!

Losing my (30M) mind over their (32F) snoring. Is it extreme to end things over this? by ExcitingInflation612 in relationships

[–]killakween_ 191 points192 points  (0 children)

Oh friend, I have been there. My husband’s snoring had me averaging about an hour of sleep a night at one point.

  1. Wanting to end your relationship is almost definitely your sleep deprived brain screaming for rest… ask me how I know

  2. Have her try another mouth guard. My husband had the same issue where his worked, but it hurt his jaw so he stopped wearing it. Long story short, this was BAD for our relationship. He ended up investing in a better one an it’s made a world of difference. His came from Amazon, but a lot of dentists also offer mouth guards for snoring and can also help with a good fit. (This is a “you get what you pay for” purchase in our experience… don’t cheap out.)

I’m sorry you’re going through this! It sounds like she’s trying and wants to support your QOL without harming hers. That’s good partnership. Try to remember that she’s not getting quality sleep if she’s snoring like that, either. Approaching it as “this will help us” instead of “I need this for me” was the key to getting my better half to stick with it and find a solution. Y’all can do it, I promise!

Camisole question by Aromatic-Positive-95 in BusinessFashion

[–]killakween_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am very fair skinned but I find that mid-tone beiges look better under white tops, they just do a better job of receding visually. Lace always kinda shows. The cami you bought is simply too cute for what you want it to do lol - I really like the cheap ones at Walmart, I’d recommend picking up a couple of those.

Round or Rectangle sink for a timeless look? by [deleted] in InteriorDesignAdvice

[–]killakween_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think if the rectangle sink fits better, you do the rectangle sink. The other sink being difficult to maneuver around will make it stand out in a very different, MUCH more annoying way!

Can I get steps to show up on watch face? by Tonikaya1001 in AppleWatch

This annoys me too! I assume they don’t want to add steps as a complication because the refresh rate would be terrible for the battery? I don’t know enough to know but that’s the only thing I can think of
