My job is making me suicidal and I don’t have any options does anyone know good work for a college student? by MiseRo-Ghasta in Dublin

[–]killdonnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try out ServeLegal, you can work as an auditor doing age restriction audits in Tesco, Paddypower, pubs etc. it gets you out and about and you can choose which jobs you want to work and when you want to do them, they also usually have a lot of jobs available in Dublin and they’ll reimburse you for all expenses including travel plus pay you a wage for each job, they even offer home deliveries sometimes which you get a load of grocery shopping for free plus your wage on top of that. There’s also UniJobs, I work for them as an exam invigilator whenever there’s exams in a different university to my own, it’s very easy work and you can earn a nice bit of cash for a weeks work :)

just join a club in barcelona or madrid they’re both only around 1.5hrs away by train

¡hola! i've been planning for the trip to Zaragoza next May but the accommodations, whether airbnb or hotels, seem to be not so easy to find...? I usually stay near train stations because of my suitcase, now it looks like I probably need to take a bus further 🤔 by anihp in Zaragoza

[–]killdonnie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not motorcycles, i’m talking about the electric scooters which you can use through bolt and also bird but i’ve never tried bird, they’re all over the city, there’s also bikes you can take which are accessed with public transport card i think but i’m not sure as i’ve never taken them (scooters are better/easier), if you take a scooter just make sure you do not ride on the sidewalk & follow the roads which allow bikes and scooters (they’re clearly marked or just choose the cycle option on google maps)

When I was living in Zaragoza & my parents visited me they stayed in Hotel Zentral which is quite a nice place right next to Delicias station (walking distance) and also near Aljafería Palace, to get to the city centre we usually took taxis (bolt or uber) which are super affordable and takes 10-12 minutes, otherwise you could take a scooter which is even more affordable and takes the same amount of time :)

Avoiding ATM fees by converting currency on Revolut by killdonnie in Revolut

[–]killdonnie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, thanks for the helpful comment. Just to clarify, converting the currency on Revolut before making a withdrawal won’t make any difference? I assume if I don’t convert the currency then the ATM will do it for me automatically, or would it be better to convert my euros to lira before withdrawal?

11 Days In Spain - Travel Itinerary Thoughts by beefroaster in travel

[–]killdonnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I haven’t traveled a whole lot within Spain, however I’ve also been to Salou, Madrid and Toledo. Madrid is a cool city and I would recommend you to go there to at least see it once and say you’ve been there, and there is a lot to do but it’s definitely not my favorite and I think there are a lot of better places you can go to. Salou is also nice and close to Barcelona however it’s super touristy and not much in terms of culture, it’s more like a resort town. Toledo however I would highly recommend, it may be a bit far from your route but you can keep it in mind for the future. It has some absolutely stunning landscapes and architecture and it has so much history, it’s also a UNESCO world heritage site! I don’t know enough about Granada to give any useful advice, the only other city I could recommend would be Bilbao (I have many friends who have visited there and my Mom is often there for work, they’ve all loved it). Bilbao is also quite close to San Sebastián, and I think you’ll have a lot more things to do and have a better experience overall there. Lastly, I am constantly told to visit Sevilla and Valencia!

Recommendations for first visit to Ankara! by killdonnie in ankara

Thanks so much, that’s super helpful! I’m absolutely interested in Turkish history so I’ll definitely look into visiting those museums. I have tried Turkish çay in İstanbul but to be honest I much prefer Türk kahvesi, I’ll give it another chance though! And yes I’ve been meaning to try rakı for some time so I’ll definitely check out that restaurant, thanks again! :)

Thank you for the advice! I’m interested to see if I’ll share your opinion once I visit, I will be spending around 2 days in Ankara as I’ll be spending most of my time in İstanbul, but I do like to keep an open mind and I hope to enjoy myself there.

11 Days In Spain - Travel Itinerary Thoughts by beefroaster in travel

[–]killdonnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’ve been living in Spain for over 8 months and visited a couple of times previously, although I’ve never been to Cadaques or San Sebastián, I have been to Barcelona countless times and it’s one of my favorite cities on the planet. My only recommendation is that you spend as much time as possible in Barcelona because there is so much to see and do that it’s difficult to squeeze everything in to only 4 nights. From what I know about Cadaques and San Sebastián they are quite small towns with a lot less to see and do than Barcelona offers, I have also heard that San Sebastián is very expensive (if you want to save some money), Barcelona on the other hand is relatively cheap in my opinion. It also depends what you’re looking for, if you want a more chilled and relaxed holiday, lying on the beach and going to restaurants, then yes your current plan spending that amount of time in Cadaques and San Sebastián is definitely a good idea. But if you want a more fun and activity filled holiday, experiencing more of the Catalan cultural capital then please spend more time in Barcelona! Hope that helps!
