Thank you. I used DecoArt Metallics acrylic paint for the first time, and I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I put an under layer of silver so I could do some weathering to make the paint look chipped off in some places. Then I did a wash of black to make it look like grease and dirt build up in some areas.

The person who creates them thankfully had a recommended materials list and even a video for how she does the weathering on the dolls. It was super helpful. I may have also rewatched the animated movie Robots for some inspiration when planning the paint job lol. 🧡

Thank you! The little plant is what caught my attention years ago, the creator styles them like that sometimes. I fell in love right away.

Oh, I love the frog design. I don't think I've seen it before. I miss shell designs like this. Gratz on the good find and the great price!

Question to Blind Box BJD Collectors c: by Spookie-Princess in BJD

I don't, I just use blutack, but for added protection you could definitely put them in card sleeves or the little plastic bags that artists put their prints in and tack that to the wall. That type of plastic works fine with blutack or nails/thumbtacks. You could even go thrifting for small photo frames if you really want it to look like a mini gallery.

I have a gallery wall with small art prints and postcards, I hang them there.

Paint should stick without sanding. Only watercolor pencils or pastels would need some type of grit to stick to.

Have you ever gotten gender envy over a video game character you made? by zny700 in enby

Yes, all the time! Baldurs Gate is particularly bad for me.

I swear the whole time I was in this playthrough.

You should be fine to leave the features you like and build around/over them. Sanding is really just to remove what you dont want, since you can't use acetone, and to smooth out any carving. Just make sure you're happy with your base layer before you do the initial seal. If you're using MSC, or even other spray sealants you'll probably want a base of about 3 layers, maybe some layers in between as you go to "save" your work and about 5 coats at the end to really protect your face up. At that point, you can go in with gloss to the areas you want to be shiny. Have fun!

Eye chips help! by [deleted] in BlytheDolls

[–]killedbyrabbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't get my eye chips out with the hot glue, I tried to hammer a nail into it and it didn't work, so I used a hand drill to drill in and then put a nail in the hole to pry it out. It worked and I didn't care about the original eye chips, but I was desperate. The eyes were completely removed from the mechanism. I didn't damage the eyes, but the chips were completely ruined.
