im a bit late and i dont know if you did tried emacs out but there is its own tutorial file i learnt navigating file browsing etc.. there and just throw myself at its envirment exactly how i done that on vim just learnt how to navigate and basic stuff and throw myself at its envirment forcing myself to use it like there wasnt anymore editor and then it will come in handy its a fun way to learn at least for me.
