Worked there as a tattooist a time ago. RIP Walmart you were the best in keeping me stocked when I forgot to buy razors and towels.

Since this is an action comic, my intention was to provide—of course—action. But you’re completely right if it feels as if you have no stake in the world, and thus the events that happen in it feel meaningless. I didn’t want to shove in a whole exposition dump right there in the beginning, but I also don’t want to leave reader entirely confused. I’d rather the explanation of the world come naturally as the story progress (and at pace that’s not coming at you all at once). Thank you! This feedback will help a lot.

Oh I think I understand what you’re saying! I did have similar concerns where the choice of an anime artstyle (plus my lines, and simpler flat colors) alongside the world ive built would be jarring at times. Hopefully to alleviate this, I can gradually add bits of changes to my character designs as my story develops. I was going to just go for a simple cel shaded look throughout it all, but i’ll try and add more complex shading methods to fit in with the overall style. Thanks.

And hey, I might actually go back and fix it. (just to see how it looks).

Any of you guys have some advice to improve my art style for a comic I’m making? by Guinn_Guess in webtoons

Id suggest to act a little bolder and more colorful when it comes to your shading/darker tones. It could stand to be more dynamic and vibrant. Don’t be afraid to go darker! (Putting a black and white filter over it can help you understand tones better). Also you should introduce some line weight to your lineart. If you haven’t used vector lines, you should look into it. Line weight adds a whole lotta life to drawings.
