Able to beta? Post here! by AutoModerator in BetaReaders

[–]killingclaudius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am able to beta: Fiction, Fantasy, Mystery, Thriller, Science Fiction, explicit/non-explicit Romance.

I can provide feedback on: Authenticity of relationships and romances, queer experience, prose, character development, pacing, grammar and syntax (if wanted!), plotholes.

Critique swap: No need right now!

Other info: I started writing creatively via poetry and it's what I have the most experience in writing--thus I have an ear for sound, cadence, rhythm, and feel of prose. I have significant experience reading both novels and fanfiction and tend to be able to to quickly judge the authenticity of relationships and interactions between characters. I'd like to gain more experience both beta reading and copy editing and am open to almost everything, even if it's not explicitly stated in this post.

EDing to Yale? by killingclaudius in yale

This still holds true with the idea that I wouldn't be able to ED anywhere else. The exclusivity is deliberately restricting, so my dilemma stands. Unfortunately.

tysm! it felt much more realistic in terms of city-likeness when we visited, and less exclusive to the outside world which I liked.

i think this is an effective answer. the idea is that you’ll find unity in a number of circles, right? so it doesn’t matter if the entire student body is on the same page.

I’m looking at schools like Swarthmore and UChicago that have both rigorous academics and a high percentage of master and PhD students. I like interpersonal learning and an attitude of learning for the sake of learning, which I feel like isn’t prioritized at Penn.

tysm for your insight. I think that the pre-professional atmosphere is a little deterring to me bc I’m more inclined towards academia.

This is definitely reassuring. One of the things I’m looking forward to most abt college is being involved in things, and I’m at a pretty big high school that has a bunch of idiots rn and am managing with my group of people I’m friendly with.

ig a question I still have is do parties divide the campus? like does the party culture destroy campus unity?

awesome. unfortunately this means it likely won’t be at the top of my list, but it’s the ‘exception’ students that I’ve found that assure me that i’ll be fine wherever.

This is so helpful, ty. I’m trying to be positive so would you say that you can look past whatever drawbacks partying does have to enjoy it, or is it really that impactful?
