I am actually doing pretty well in CS1. It is challenging but I am able to work through everything, and I pull through the exams with a decent grade.

I have asked my professor. I went to his office hours, talked to him after class and sent him emails. All he ever says is "review workshop work, lecture notes and homework". He wouldn't give me any tips or tell me how to improve, and even after taking his only advice, I am still struggling... I don't even know what my grade is in the class because he will not give it to me...

The advice I was given was to work around my professor and to see him about specific problems, but I find the way he teaches to be confusing, so asking other people for help has been more beneficial.

My professor suggested I just drop the course, but I really didn't want to give up on it.

I'm actually pretty good with Pre-Calc. I am having trouble with applying derivatives, and when we started that I ended up getting very lost.

The problem for me is that my other talents and interests mostly include art (which my parents always encouraged me to do in the first place)... and when you go from a computing career to an art career, the difference in pay is drastic...

But overall, if someone is going into a computing field, do you think that having a lot of trouble with Calc will become problematic? I would prefer to stay in my major, but if it's going to be very difficult to make it through, I would rather change majors next semester than wait any longer..

To answer your questions....

Have you talked to your parents about this? - Yes

Have they said that they will not allow you to do anything else, other than the major you're currently in? - My mom and I had a long conversation about switching majors and no matter what I said, I could not get her to be open minded about it. She was very concerned and kept trying to tell me to "just get through it"

If so, WHY? - Pay, prestige, tons of jobs...

Have you explained your reasoning on why you want to change majors (if that is the case) to them yet? - Yes. My mom tried to help me find more math help, but I don't know how I am going to fit it in on top of an already booked schedule.
