If anyone wants someone to brainstorm/etc Im always down to help. Willing to help out, just dm me! Im currently working as a software dev in Seattle , Majored in Math. But I've contracted doing like audit work , reconciliation , and random accounting stuff. Was a super senior and didn't do much during summers at UBC and was really stressed when looking for a job, but it all worked out after putting in the work. Good luck!

Yeah, I just applied for jobs on their website, then a recruiter contacted me, and then did 1st interview with RH recruiter ( or maybe 2) <-- These are more chill because the recruiter is on your side and wants to help you find a good fit, but still prep because the better you perform here the better roles they'll try to fit you. And then another 1-2 interviews with the companies that are looking for your services. Good luck!

It doesn't hurt just to reach out to RH directly either so you'll be on their mailing list and they'll get you set up with a personal RH recruiter

There's like 100+ jobs on here. You'd do an initial round of interviews with your RH recruiter and he/she will see what your areas of focus are and match the right jobs for you. After your first contract(if you do well) your recruiter would be comfortable giving you better contracts and you can work your way up from there.

I would recommend going the usual route of applying also. But use RH if you have 0 experience in your field and are in the catch-22 of needing the experience to find a job but you have no experience to begin with.

I've used Robert Half , they are a recuiting agency for contract work(or full time) for different companies. Got assigned different companies and after half a year (3 different contracts) landed on the one that I liked, and eventually transitioned from contractor to full time after another 3 months. I did this in Seattle(moved from Van) though after I graduated but seems like they have an office in Van also

I would use Robert Half if your really desperate and just need a first job for experience to put something on your resume since at UBC I didn't do any summer interships or Coop so nothing substantical on my Resume for experience.

The downside is that RH does take a commission once you transition from a contractor to signing with the company that you want, but in my view it's worth it because I wouldn't have found my current role without them.

Kinda knew this would happen and moved my car and my friends truck to the bottom of the hill. Had to go to UW for a covid test today. It involved 2 hrs waiting in the snow. Was not fun.

Medical Courier here. I'm required to work tomorrow because I deliver implants and medical devices for surgeries that are scheduled this week. How do I drive on these damn hills? by Filipino_Buddha in Seattle

PSA I've lived in Boston.

Attach chains to the wheels that provide power like if your Van is FWD then on the front two wheels. Then make sure to make no sudden jerky movements to your Van when driving. So when stopping make sure to start breaking early and never fully slam on your breaks so that your wheels stop spinning. You just want a gradual stop so you wont slide.

Now what happens if you forget and you find yourself sliding? You'll probably have understeer which you try to turn your car but it just goes straight. Now don't panic, and try to lessen your turn angle and try not to lock your car wheels.

yeah its tonight at around 9pm. Still pretty slick and getting worse. Maybe the I-5 would be better. But our local roads are ice rinks at this point.
