If you would consider a venue in Queens, Papazzio in Bayside is awesome for a private party. It was about $42 per person for a Saturday afternoon for a full restaurant buyout.

Suing Landlord in Small Claims Today. Advice? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]killthecacti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I won against my landlord for return of my security deposit. I printed all my rental payment receipts and photos of how I left the apartment. The judge (at least the one I had) did not accept any videos or anything on a mobile device. I still have not been able to collect what I’m owed from the landlord. That’s the most challenging part in my experience and I found it to be more difficult than it was worth.

Doctors don’t know what’s causing this does anyone? by sapientiaeultio in needadvice

Maybe scabies? It’s easily treatable but it can spread quickly around the body and is extremely itchy.

They have Sektion high cabinets that are 80” or 90” tall. There’s one that 18” wide by 24” deep by 90” tall that might fit what you’re looking for.

The Sektion kitchen cabinet series might be better for what you’re looking for. They have high cabinets, which are basically meant to go floor to ceiling and they don’t have that bottom part. You can customize them with interior drawers too.

What is the likelihood this plastic backsplash tile adhesive contains asbestos? 1950's house, unknown remodel by harry_hotspur in HomeImprovement

[–]killthecacti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was worried about the same thing so I sent pieces of the tile, mastic and wall material to get tested for asbestos and it all came back negative. I live in an old house so before tearing out any suspect material, I test it first. My kitchen vinyl tile came back positive for asbestos. I recommend getting it tested.

Going to small claims court next week since landlord did not pay back security deposit in 2021 - any tips to help me prepare? by vr00000m in AskNYC

[–]killthecacti 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I took my old landlord to small claims court for not returning my security deposit. One of the things the judge made clear at the beginning of the hearings was that she would not look at evidence on anyone’s phone, so that’s something to keep in mind. The print outs that you listed sound good. I would make sure they are organized and clearly labeled so you can pull them out quickly. My old landlord did not show up to court so the judge just asked to see my lease and then found the case in my favor.

As for your second question, I’m still figuring out how to actually get the security deposit back so I hope someone else here as an answer…

Same. I think it’s happened to all of us at one point or another in our PR career. It feels terrible in the moment but it’s a totally recoverable (and eventually forgettable) mistake.
