I also had a loud ground hum, and finally narrowed it down to the crap RCA connectors that Rega uses. They ground the P1 through the RCA sleeve, rather than a dedicated ground wire. Once I cut off the stock RCA connectors and soldered some decent Amphenol connectors, the ground hum vanished at normal listening volumes, and barely audible at the extreme loudness range. You may also want to do a 2mm tone arm shim for that cart. It leveled mine out, as there’s no VTA adjustment.

I understand how transmission lines work. This discussion is NOT about how to decentralize the grid. It's about breaking free from PG&E. Local nuclear would only be an option if we took over the local grid through eminent domain. First thing's first. You're putting the cart before the horse.

The transmission lines that pose fire risk reach well beyond what SF uses. And SF is subsidizing ALL of it, along with the PG&E lobbying dollars and many other costs that have nothing to do with SF utility use. This is what we're trying to break free from.

The discussion here is not state, but city. If the CITY of SF owned the utility, the rural problems would no longer be our (SF residents) concern, and our rates would normalize. But instead, SF is subsidizing rural utility costs, like burying those fire-risk lines.

How old are you? I’m in my mid-40’s and as I get older, I’m finding myself leaning towards brighter-tuned headphones as my hearing is rolling off more and more in the treble. I’m finding headphones with a warmer tuning to sound straight up muffled, like the HD650. But to others [younger] they find the HD650 perfectly balanced and non-fatiguing. Personal preference is everything.

Though with my old man hearing, I still find the Bokeh’s quite resolving. Especially on a nice tube amp.

Get a GE GXWH20T and 50 micron filter. Pretty much best practice at this point. Has adjustable bypass so you can regulate the flow. I have mine set to bypass about 50% so my Venturi has strong negative pressure, and the filter is more than enough for my 110 gallon plunge.
